AR Buffer

New AR's and I am getting ready to shoot my virgin AR and I notice the buffer seems to have a weight inside that slides within the buffer.

Is this normal and just the type of buffer that was provided or could something be wrong?

Normal. FWIW, even though the rifle is new, it still requires a thorough cleaning and lube prior to first use. I mention this only because some new owners are unaware of this. Enjoy your new rifle.

Yup all the ones I've seen sound like they have sand in them. Like a weighted hammer. Makes for better recoil management I suppose.

I think those are just the cheaper buffers filled with shot.
According to spec, they're supposed to have solid weights within-


or so I'm told
