Well, my upper arrived today and I was at the range within an hour.

The Build:
-DPMS Lower
-DelTon LPK
-DelTon A2 Mid Length Upper

I don't know if you can tell, but the upper and lower don't match. The DPMS lower is a shade of gray and the upper is jet black.

Range Report:

I sighted in at 25 yards with Federal Brown Box. Once sighted, it was grouping 20 rounds at 1". However, it would not lock the bolt back.

After shooting 120 rounds of the Federal, I switched to Wolf Black Box. While I didn't feel a difference, my shot were about 3" high and the groups opened up. They did, however, lock the bolt back every time.

I'm guessing I may have a underpowered lot of the Federal but at least it like Wolf (cheap date:D)

Overall, I'm happy with the build and the way it shoots.

I didn't even notice the mismatched colors until you said something. Nice looking rifle, enjoy.

You can tell in the pics, but I don't think it's any big deal. My parkerized FAL looks rather strange with a black top cover on it also. But if I wanted to scope it, that was the way. And my jet-black Colt came with grey magazines. I bought a bunch of black 30 rounders to make it look better, but I really don't care anymore.

Nice looking rifle, BTW.

Looks great. I like the A2 stock and A2 upper, its refreshing to see, considering that nowadays "M4" style is all the rage.

As for color differences, dont worry about it. I didnt notice until you pointed it out.

ahh... the care and feeding of an AR-15... they'll eat just about anything you feed them... but be careful... sometimes, they get a little upset with the laquer coated stuff... :D

Nice looking rifle... good job on it!!! mine is still in the do I wanna go with one of these... or one of those... I guess I can't make up my mind... LOL

I can already tell that this thing has a voracious appetite. I sold off some 7.62x39 at a swap meet last week but I need to seriously look at buying stock in Wolf or investing in a reloading press.

I just ordered that combo from Del-Ton to go on a DPMS lower.

Post how it shoots please. Did you need any special tools to assemble yours?

You might try oiling up the lower with CLP and letting it sit for a day, then wiping it down with a cloth to dry it. I have found that sometimes the finish on the lowers are a bit "dry" and some CLP evens things out nicely.

Nice rifle!

With my sights zero'd at 25 yards, should I be close at 300 yards? If so, does that also hold true for 50 yards/200 yards?

What I might do is set the zero on "4" at 50 yards, then figure the clicks up/down for 100 yards or 25/300 yards.

I know that's not the "correct" way, but that should satisfy my needs.
