I'm looking for a carry handle for my flat-top AR on the cheap. I know someone will say "buy the best" but this is only a temporary sight or maybe a back-up. I'm saving up for a holosight but need irons to go shooting next month. This will be going on my Oly 9mm AR upper.

Has anyone used one of those $40 ones from ebay? Are they the same as Tapco? How do they look compared to RRA or Bushie or anyone else?

Thanks, Mark

Have you thought of a flip-up sight? That way you wouldn't have to remove the sight every time you want to use optics.
I hear ARMS #40 is a great investment. I personally don't see any advantages to a detachable carry handle over a flip up sight. It also helps not to have to keep track of your detached carry handle, your sight is always on your rifle. I think its worth the $100.

Save your ducats, dubloons & thalers.

Like N3rday says, buy a folding rear sight and after you mount it, sight it in. Then fold it down and sight in your red dot or optical. Save weight & space & ducats, dubloons & thalers that way.

If your going with a holosight your going want to have a backup rearsight anyways. You can use it as your primary untill you get the optic you want then use it as a backup. If you get a $40 handle its $40 your just going to throw away. If you get a $100 back up sight it will be $100 well spent.

I bought a $40 sight from TAPCO for the same reasons you have ... backup to the reflex and for the odd times I'd want irons as primary ... will likely put it up on ebay to sell it as it is a piece of craps. Poor quality, misaligned sights.

Lesson learned: ARMS #40 is the way to go. I haven't found anything cheaper online that has gotten the good review the 40 has. Then again, haven't tried it myself yet. Gee, if only I had a rifle...
