AR irons + optic opinions

I currently use DD fixed front and rear iron sights on my DD upper. I had initially gone with the Magpul flip up front and rear BUIS. (which, btw, I do like). However, the target acquisition and sight picture are night and day different when using the Daniel Defense sights. IMO, these are really, really good iron sights.

Right now, I have a Vortec/Strikefire RD. These DD sights, (being fixed) run a constant absolute co-witness with this red-dot. Its just something you get kind of used to. I have no problems with this set-up.

Some great insight so far. I went ahead and ordered the magpul gen2's for the BUIS (I made sure to order them from a magpul authorized dealer since apparently there's a crap ton of cheap chinese knock-off fakes floating around) and I'm beginning to lean towards going with another Strikefire for this one since I've had good experience with the one I currently already run on one of my AKs, the eye relief is fine unless you have the magnifier extension in and I know what to expect from the strikefire.

I do like the idea of the trs-25 and its size, but I also like the idea of some sort of magnification available without purchasing an entire separate unit. I know plenty of blowhard guys with all the neat expensive bells and whistles who have all the brand names and models memorized to spout off any chance that they think someone will listen and be impressed.....that still can't shoot worth a damn. So I'm not entirely sold on the idea that such investments are entirely necessary to prove effective. It all comes down to whether you can hit your target in my opinion.

As for the sling awgrizzly, I could honestly care less if I look like a dork. Function over form, and everyone has their own favorites, I'm not sure yet what I'll put on this build. It's not like I'll be doing extensive hiking or have it when I'm on a horse often like I might some of my other rifles, but I rule out no possibilities, we'll see.

I'll post some pics when I've made the decision on what else to fit it with. Keep the insight coming by all means!

I have always been a fan of backup iron sights that you can use through your optic in case the battery dies. That way you don't have to move the scope or RD out of the way. These work great with the A2 front sight post and are tough as nails.
