Hey folks,

So, I was all set to start an AR build with an Aero Precision lower, and was set to order it, when a gunsmith friend mentioned a sale on SI Defense billet lowers for $120.

Which would you folks recommend? The reason I was going with the Aero was their reputation, and the fact that they make many other company's lowers for them. I also like the pictographs a bit more than the Safe/Fire configuration.

On the other hand, a billet lower for forty bucks more than I was planning on spending for the Aero seems like a no-brainer. (Plus, I went to school in Montana, and that'd be kind of cool.)

Help! These things aren't going to sit around forever. Any advice is more than appreciated.

They're both good. Ask if the SI Defense is made out of 7075 aluminum (which it should be) and not 6061 (cheaper and weaker). If it's 7075 and you like it, go for it.

Hey if you like the SI Defense billet lower, go ahead. And if you want the Montana rollmark, why not! In the long run paying a little extra for the rollmark you want is just a drop in the bucket compared to the overall price of the rifle. But that rollmark really defines your build so get the one you love, maybe even something else than the two you mentioned.

Just make sure what you choose is a quality product with milspec dimensions. And remember to add in transfer fees and shipping for the Aero Precision lower. You may find out the SI on sale locally (without transfer fee and shipping costs) isn't that much more.
