I've always just used a USGI M16 cleaning kit plus a small toolbox full of years of assorted cleaning stuff I've collected over the years.

However I recently had a form 4 clear on a KAC SR15 11.5" SBR + KAC NT4 Suppressor and want to take cleaning and maintenance a little more seriously.

I did a search on AR15 cleaning kits but it seems most of the posts are 7 or 8 years old and cover primarily in the field cleaning kits.

I'm curious if anyone can recommend a good cleaning kit set up for the AR15. I'm thinking for use at home and not in the field so things like a one piece rod (something i've never had before) are not a problem and are even preferable.

Thanks for any advice!

This one-piece rod has a ball-bearing handle and a carbon fiber rod:

If you're serious enough to be using a one-piece rod, a bore guide is a good compliment:

This is a good budget kit, you would still need the one-piece rod above, as the rod in the kit is segmented:

This is not the most inexpensive kit, but I've found I take it with me more than any other:

Lat but not least, I would have thought my manhood was being questioned if someone suggested the use of some type of support to clean my ARs, until I used one of these:

It has two forks, so it's not AR specific, but it also has a mag well block for an AR. Lots of compartments, a place for everything and everything in it's place and all that. Latching lid, carry handle, sturdy.

It helped me to collect the cleaning/maintenance items from the basement, garage, office closet and nightstand into one place, and keeps me from blaming the wife when I can't find something.

Thanks for the help. I really like that bore guide. I've never used one of those before. Going to give it a try.

Thanks, Daniel
