High Road,

I have a 1.5 inch 4 Rail Picatinny Gas Block. It is firmly mounted to the barrel and I have had no trouble with the gas tube, shooting, cycle of operation etc.

Is is a bad idea to mount a bipod to the picatinny rail? Would repeated shooting in any way loosen the gas block, and harm the gas tube, etc.?

Should I buy an 2in or 4in separate rail and attach the bipod to the handguard to avoid harm to the gas block, or am I good?

Thanks, DML

The whole point of the Picatinny rail is to attach stuff. If the gas block isn't secured properly it may work loose; but it likely would have done that later anyway.

You may see a shift in zero with the bipod attached though.

I have bad luck with mounting a bi pod to the gas block via 4 rail. Groups went from 6 MOA to .750ish when I moved the bi pod to the hand guard. Search: "barrel harmonics"
