are any hydra shock ammo videos on 32 acp or 380 vs watermelon avaiable. Would really like to see, Was going to buy and do myself but watermelons expensive, and hate to do if has already been done

thanks

Are you looking for the videos as a way to measure penetration of the rounds, or just to see watermelons get what's coming to them?

I ask, because shooting a watermelon isn't exactly the most accurate means of measuring a particular round's ballistic capabilities. If you're looking for stuff like that, you'd be better off having a look around brassfetcher.com

dont own either caliber and really interested in the federal hydra-shock rather than the normal HP bullets. Keep hearing all the hoopla about mouse guns in 32 and 380 calibers But never hear about hydra shock ammo in small caliber. I have 44mag, 38 specials, 357 mag and 9 mm. Would be nice to add a mouse gun to my collection but golly so many to choose from, and ammo choices, to max out what a little gun can do.

Planning on being mugged by a gang of watermelons or something?

If you're looking at it as a home ballistics test, try phone books soaked in lukewarm water overnight and then drained half hour before shooting.

Jeez, the dude probably just wants to see what impact his chosen caliber and load will do to a watermellon. I guess the answer so far is no, no one knows any links to a .32/.380 vs watermellon vid. I do agree that you should just have fun and do it yourself. Watermellons aint that expensive compared to .380 hydrashocks.

All I found was a video of a first time shooter having newbie's luck and landing multiple rounds into a watermelon at considerable range. No penetration examples, and too far out to tell how extensive the damage was.

It did blow a large chunk out of it though...I saw it flopping around after the second shot. Unsure of the ammo or the handgun though.

Due to their very nature, almost any caliber with any bullet design will blow large chunks out of a watermelon.

As noted, they are a completely unrealistic test medium for anything except blowing up aggressive watermelons.
And making a big splash on camera.

Sometime about 50 years ago, my Boy Scout troop had a rifle campout. In New Jersey. All .22s of course. One of the guys brought some osage oranges from a tree near his house. We all expected dramatic hits and lots of fun. No deal. The .22 bullets went right through without even knocking the oranges off the board they were sitting on. After a few hits, they got pretty soft and leaky though.

So maybe he just wants to be a show off.

The guy didn't ask if a .380 would explode a watermelon, or if it was a good test of the ballistic capabilities of the .380. He asked if there were any videos of watermelons being shot. It drives me crazy how many people answer questions that are not asked on this board. If you can't answer the question that was asked, then don't answer it at all. Sheesh.

And just to take my own advice--I have not seen any such videos. Sorry.

I first read this as videos on .32 ACP or .308 on watermelons and I was just thinking, damn that's quite a big difference in rounds...

I have never seen one, go make one, post the video!

Drops his volume in the middle and end of sentences. Not good for training, put everyone to sleep.

Slow target acquisition and firing, and ended with an empty gun instead of reloading. Maybe not the best trainer. :uhoh:

Nice watermelon dicing though.
