Are holographic sights prone to a halo effect in low light?

I just received a holographic sight in a trade. It's not an expensive one. It costs about $90 new. It seems like there is a quite a halo effect unless the sight is outside in full light. Is this normal, or is this sight just junk? I was thinking about putting it one of my 22s.

The halo or ghost image or whatever will always be more pronounced in low light. In bright light light the secondary light point will be swamped by the ambient light.

So first off, maybe your power/brightness setting is too high. It helps to tune the brightness to the ambient light condition.

Is this your first? Do you have any other points of comparison. My astigmatism and cataracts often cause secondary images. Not the fault of the optic.

Once again, lower the brightness and see if that helps. Finally the halo shouldn’t affect use of the optic.

I've used these lights before, but this is the first one that I have ever owned.

I'm unable to not get a halo effect to some degree indoors regardless of light setting. It's much more pronounced when set at the highest level than it is on 1, but unless I'll outdoors, there is somewhat of a halo effect.

I wish I could be more help. You might have someone else look at it. When I see a double dot, I wonder how my granchildren would see it. Sucks to get old.

I know that when my eyes are tired I have a bit of trouble focusing on standard sites these days. Maybe it is my eyes and not the site? My wife is blind as a bat. I'll have the neighbor kid take a look.
