Need a little help: Stevens BuckHawk .22LR Model 56
I have my Father's childhood .22 and am working to refinish the stock and re-blue the barrel. While this rifle is in horrible condition, I think it will turn out quit well after a little restoration.
This firearm has not been cleaned or fired in approximately 40 years. While I've managed to get everything 'un-seized' and the bolt assembly seems to be functioning correctly, I would like to clean it internally.
From examining the bolt, I think I have a good idea about how to disassemble it, but before pressing forward I was wondering if anyone had some experience, tips, or perhaps an original manual for this model.
To remove the firing pin, I'm thinking I need to push-out the pin forward the charging handle, then rotate the two bolt sections 45 degrees, then pull apart... Still not 100% on removing the main spring from the aft portion of the bolt. I'd just like to do this for completeness.
Any knowledge or experience on bolt dis-assembly would be appreciated.
Thanks
