Anyone interested in an Austin area meet and greet in the next couple of months?

Or if someone has some land out of town, say 10+ acres or more ;)

I love guns, so do my friends...but I am the only one who owns any! We go and shoot but I get stuck cleaning!

I need more friends with guns :uhoh:

Texas Service Rifle Championship

Missed you guys at the Temple Garand, M1 carbine, Vintage Military Rifle and 1903 Springfield Championships last weekend.

You guys ought to come out and shoot or meet at Camp Swift during the TSRA Service rifle Championship this month. Oct 19, 20, 21 on hwy 95 between Elgin and Bastrop. There will be over 100 folks shooting for the Championship.

Details linked on the www.TSRA.com site or the www.epcgc.com site.

Sooo...

I guess the majority of Austinites are either not friendly, don't want to meet anyone and have enough friends already, or don't visit this section...

I don't visit this section enough. I'd definitely be up for a get together, I've got a few AKs assembled that I haven't yet put rounds through.

I'm an Austinite, am friendly, and am always up for anything! It's all the new-age hippie types here that might not be so gun friendly. ;) If someone gets something setup, I will gladly go.

perhaps

I should post a post in the main forum to direct people to look here? Or is that a faux pas? AND we still need some land...

Largest shooting event in Texas near Austin this month

The Texas Service Rifle Championship will be at Camp Swift, just outside Austin on Oct 19, 20, 21. There will be over 100 rifle shooters shooting ARs, M1As and Garands. Spectators welcome. The Texas Guard may be opening the pop-up pistol range in the evenings after the rifle competitions are complete.
If you have never seen something like this, you can't imagine it.

Watch

If you have never SEEN an NRA/CMP rifle match, you oughtta. Not on television. No matter what you are interested in shooting, pistol, airgun, shotgun, deerhunting only, whatever, you OUGHT to expand your knowledge base.

Spectators can show up any time, Friday, Saturday of Sunday. We will start firing about 8:00 on each morning at the 200 yard line and work our way back to the 600 yard line.

Ever seen targets run out of pits? Ever seen folks shoot out of jackets? Ever seen rapid fire strings or 200 yards offhand? How about 600 yards with open sights?

Biggest rifle match in Texas right outside Austin on Hwy 95 between Bastrop and Elgin.

We had an Austin meet back in February or so, got about 15-20 people.

I organized the one in Jan '06, and that drew a similar number. Both shoots were pretty fun, got to meet people and see cool gear.

I would advise that you use Search and find the past two Austin shoot threads in Rallying Point, and send a PM out to all the folks who expressed interest. I'd say that a one-time PM to everyone involved wouldn't be inappropriate, because a lot of interested folks don't check RP every week.

Shoot them all a PM, and I'll bet you get a dozen or more folks interested pretty quick. The last two shoots were held at Austin Rifle Club, which has its advantages and disadvantages.

Dig up the previous threads, and it'll give you some ideas for how to go about organizing this. It's a lot like herding cats.

I am in Cedar Park. It should not be that hard to get together, just finding the time.

When the wife and I come down we stay in Bee Cave. I am learning where everything is the more we stay there at her folks house. :)

Of all the time I spend on THR you would think I would have seen this post before... I'm outside of Elgin, and have a pistol range. There is also Reds indoor range in P'ville. I'm always looking for a reason to slack on chores to go shooting! MG
