A neighbor of my parent's passed away over the weekend unbeknownst to either me or my parents until his wife came to my parent's house and informed them. She was cleaning out his 'collection' and going through his will. All but two of his guns are to go to his children and his kids don't want the other two, mind you they their dad's death had been coming for quite some time.

Well my neighbor's wife knew I was gunnie because her husband and I had gone to the range on rare occassion with my uncle the 1911 fiend. He and his wife knew I was the magnum dweeb thanks to my uncle's labeling. So after my mother gave her my number she wanted to know if I wanted a .30 Carbine Automa. It took me awhile to understand what she was saying, I only knew that .30 Carbine came in Ruger Blackhawks. So we talked for a good bit and she's not running off anywhere to sell, knows she won't get a deal from a gunshop/pawnshop, and she won't be able to make the next gun show in back end of November. I basically agreed that'd I either giver the latest blue book price for it or help her sell it on gunbroker(which she was not thrilled about and probably won't do) or go with her to the gunshow in January and help her get a good deal.

I found a little info off 'High Standards' website but does anyone have any personal experience with these guns. The Wolf ammo I've found makes it cheaper to practice with than .45 ACP, and the more sophisticaed hunting rounds are on par with .44 Magnum. If I can get the gun for less than $500 I should jump on it in the next week or two, she's in no rush and I'm helping her clean the house up some this weekend for a couple of hours.

These things don't work that well usually. They are like Universal Carbine M-1 clones in that respect. The gun prolly would sit in a gunstore a long time at $450. I'd buy it at $250 and take a chance it might work ok. Mine and my .22 Mag one does not work 100% with any ammo I've found. They look cool and are loud however.:scrutiny:

That's not a for sale price, thats the average final auction price. The .50 will bring $900, the .22mag about $400, the hardballer $400

Weren't these some of the original 'jam-o-matics'?

I'd say $300 is a fair deal--helps her out, and you don't get ripped off paying for a paperweight. But if it works, it could be a real hoot.
