How about the price of ACCESORIES going up?!!
Like for all those with 'post-ban' and limited 'evil' features on those shotguns, mini-14's, 10/22's, etc all of a sudden the market for folding stocks, pistol grips, flash hiders, threaded barrels, etc goes WAY up as they accessorize their toys.
Seems like a dealer may try to make a buck.
Stock up now?

I wouldn't bet on the ban sunsetting. If it does I think it will only be temporary. The new version will be worse by not only banning the current rifles and their clones on the current list, but you can bet the Democrats will go after many if not all semi auto, pump and lever action repeaters that will lose their current protections when the existing law sunsets.

Hopefully I'm wrong but Kerry is neck and neck with Bush (who supports the AWB).

If the ban should sunset, prices on some accesories will go down after an illitial bump in price. I expect mag prices especially on Glock high caps to drop almost immediately.

If the Ban sunsets:
Your 1500 dollar Pre Ban rifle will now be worth the same as the other "Post Ban" rifles.
Oops. So much for that investment.

If it doesn't:
Your 1500 dollar Pre Ban rifle will now be worth the same as a new car.
Oops. So much for not investing.

How 'bout us lucky stiffs with rifles marked "AR-15"? :D

Even if the ban does sunset, I don't think anyone will be turning out rifles so marked.

I have a deep, abiding affection for my Colt 6400 M4 (as real as an M4 gets for us civvie hosers), but Oh, how I wish it were marked with something a little more battle-ready than "Match Target":banghead:

I'm glad I have my SP1, though, to satify my sophomoric (or sophomoronic - tee-hee) nomenclature needs:cool:

Actually, the new version is very similar to the old one. Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2003

Still, after it's introduction to the House nearly a year ago, it has went nowhere. It doesn't matter who holds the seat. It still has to make it through both branches of congress. That isn't going to happen this election year. If this was debated they would also have to address National Reciprocity(national concealed carry recognition) which was introduced on the same date. It ain't happening.

Be prepared for Hitlary in '08.
