My daughter is down from college this weekend. We are heading up to the Collegiate Peaks area for a bear hunt as I write this. Next weekend she is back for pronghorn hunting about an hour south of our house.

I get to spend some time with my two best hunting buddies again. My other daughter is along for the antelope hunt too. And the best part is my older girls is ditching her boyfriend next week to hunt with dad. He invited her to a formal dinner and dance. She told him hunting with dad comes first.....Sorry dude you are dating a real life outdoors woman....:neener:

Yeah DAD!

Sounds like you raised them right. My youngest moved to Philly and I didn't see her for 3 years. When we flew her home for Christmas the first thing that she wanted to do was shoot a gun. The first thing that she wanted to eat was venison. That's my girl!!:D:D

Lucky dad!

I'm taking my 8 yo granddaughter on her first hunt in January. She called and asked me if I would take her hunting. Her parents are too "citified" to indulge in blood sports.

Congratulations on being a good parent, no better way to maintain a close relationship with your kids. Hope ya all come home with some good meat, I absolutely love antelope!

I will be up in the high country next weekend with one of my sons and my daughter in law hunting fall turkey, can't hardly wait. If my wife can break away from baby sitting the grand kids, she will be coming along to help with the guiding, she is a really good fall turkey hunter.

Bear hunt with my daughter.
Daughter number one came home from college for a weekend for a bear hunt. We glassed a bunch and only saw one bear. We got into position at 200 yards but through a combination of thing out of our control she was never able to get a shot. Just as the bear was finally getting ready to clear the brush for a shot a small bull elk above him in the oak scrub decided to crash down through the brush making a huge racket. The noise spooked the bear and we never saw him again. No kidding, how often have you ever had your bear spooked off by a bull elk while you watched it happen? How cool was THAT!?! A first and probably once in a lifetime event for me..:)

While glassing for bear on the first afternoon we were treated to a 6x6 mature bull elk who was about 700 yards down the ridge from our position. I took this picture with cheap digital camera. See if you can pick him out in the sea of oak scrub.

Great pictures. The smell of the mountain air and glassing from a high point for animals in the oak brush is great. Looks like a really good area.

Sounds like you had a good hunt. Time spent out in the wild with family is never wasted.

My bear season ended early with a cartwheel off the side of a ravine when the rocks underneath gave way, over in the grand Mesa units. Rolled my ankle pretty good, and took the long 2 mile hike hobbling back to the truck lol.

the only bear I saw this year was scouting for elk in August, he was a big one for sure, but in a different unit than what I had a bear tag for. Oh well, time to get ready for elk:D
