Hello,

I'm new here. I usually read the forums, and hardly ever post, but I'm at a loss trying to figure out why I'm no longer allowed on Armslist.com. I understand there is a substantial amount of fraud that occurs on site, as I have been approached by many a no-do-gooder, but I'm smart enough to know better, and that was the end of it. I've used Armslist (AL) for years, and now I feel like I've lost credibility and one of my means to express and exercise my 2A, for no reason. Note: I also respect the Constitution and understand how capitalism works, and they have every right to ban anyone and everyone they chose. I just wanted a place to vent and share my issue...

Here's my story: Not sure if anyone reading this is aware that once you post a listing to AL, it's logged for LIFE. Even once you deactivate your post, any search engine can obviously pull up your current listing, but they also pull up your old deactivated ones. In an effort to keep Big Brother out of my business, once one of my listings was deactivated (NOTE: I DEACTIVATED THE LISTING BEFORE ALTERING MY INFO), I would change ALL of the info associated with the post from 'sale' to 'events', the city and state, and even the pic, etc.. to something funny, possibly political. Now..before you start telling me "that is the right of AL to ban me" (I altered it after I DEACTIVATED...hence, NOBODY SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE MY ALTERED INFO!!!)! Since then, ALL my posts (past and present) were flagged, and removed. I replied to AL and their reply was that I was attempting to defraud people from different locations. Not sure how many times I can say this...I ONLY CHANGED MY LOCATION AFTER I DEACTIVATED AND IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC, IN AN EFFORT TO PROTECT MYSELF! Now I'm unable to list or reply to posts.

Unfortunately there's no contact number to explain my situation, and the "contact us" link only gives a scripted response. Anyone else have this issue? I love that Armslist is out there, I just wish they had a better filter for those committing fraud, and those worried about their own personal info being exposed to the world after it's declared deactivated, yet indefinitely available.

Just use a new email address to make new listings. I had to do that after an unreasonable buyer was mad I wouldn't sell a rifle at a price I mistyped - he flagged all my ads and got my email address banned. New items for sale, new email address, problem solved.

FWIW, everything sent or received, at any point, ever, is, or can be, stored. Each version of each page, no matter what you change later. Once it's out there, assume it's saved - even if only a screen shot on some schmucks computer. Now that you posted here, big bro probably has someone looking into why you need to hide things after the fact... :)

Haha. No I get it. Once I hit send, it's out there...but I didn't want a search engine pulling up my past posts. And after, I also used a different email, and it worked for one listing, but now I can't post anything. I'm back to square one.

To add: I've got nothing to hide. Big Bro already has all my info. I was just trying to exercise the only option given to minimize overreach by anyone.

Hopefully your initial posting was nothing more descriptive than "Local Man" anyways, who cares if it stays up?

Why do people expect privacy for things they do in public? Sounds like you tried to be slick and got caught. I feel like that if you do it in public you DO NOT have a right to privacy. What is more public than the internet.
