I was cleaning the barrel of my Kimber today with a Brass Jag and made a idiot mistake. The back of the jag slammed into the crown of the barrel. There is a nice idiot mark on it now :( I'm so embarassed.

Anyways will this affect the accuracy of the gun? Whats it cost to have a barrel re-crowned? Can any gunsmith do this and do it well?

TIA

Good pic, still the only way to know is to shoot with a known load of known performance.

Me - I'd probably have a gunsmith check it to be sure. I'd probably Err of side of caution and have it "touched up"...that peace of mind dealie.

The Sage's here can better adivse than I...just my gut feeling...and my mind just works that way.

Tip: remove the handle from rod and push from chamber to muzzle and going slow of course, only go one direction. Can't pull back and ding the crown. Another is to use a Otis pull through cable, again this goes from chamber to muzzle only.

I wouldn't beat myself up, it happens though it makes one sick to do this. No matter what method , or product we still have to go slower than we want at times.

I hope it works out Okay for you .
