I have heard it is popular to buy the little plastic army men as bb gun targets, you can set them up and blaze away with your Red Ryder bb gun and the men go flying when you make hits! They are also reusable and cheap if you get them at a dollar store.
I was thinking about this and remembered playing with "barrel of monkeys" as a kid, I set out to find some and Wal-Mart has the best price @ about $4.98 per barrel of 10 monkeys.....I soon learned there was a bit of a run on these during Covid, I guess some folks loop the elastic ear straps (of there mask) on the monkey curved arms and each arm holds one ear strap....you walk around with a bright colored Monkey on the back of your head, But it Does give your ears a rest!
I finally found a Wal-Mart that HAD them and I grabbed 2 barrels full, I hooked all 20 monkeys in a long chain and hung outside from a tree branch, I start shooting at the bottom monkey and shoot my way up! When I make hits I have found anywhere from 1 to 4 monkeys go flying! As I have 20 Monkeys, it's all good. I was a bit concerned my Daisy Red Ryder might shoot the arms off the monkeys so I started back about 20 feet and worked closer all the way up to 5 feet but could find zero damage! I finally placed an orange monkey right on the muzzle and fired point blank as a durability test, I only gave the monkey a Fat lip! The new monkeys are thinner than the ones from years ago, but it seems they are made from High grade plastic that can flex a bit, this is much better than brittle hard plastic and is likely Designed so small children can not chew an arm off a monkey and choke on it.

Please do not put things on the muzzle of your bb gun and use safety glasses, always be mindful of bbs bouncing back! Also I do not recommend shooting plastic monkeys with airguns more powerful than a Daisy Red Ryder or similar.
I can post a photo of the monkey I shot close range when I figure out how to post photos.
