Barrel Serial Number Question

Hello fellow threaders,

Just got a quick question here.
Well, I live in Michigan, I don't know if this is limited to my state or all states... But if say your barrel has a different serial number than the serial number that is on your receiver or slide is that illegal? Apologize if this is a newbie question but I don't know where else to ask.

Its just fine. The ONLY serial number that matters is on the frame or receiver.

Otherwise every firearm made from mixed parts would be a problem.

Can't say for sure about MI but normally in the US the serial number on the frame or lower part usually is the true sn of a firearm. Guns get rebuilt with parts from other guns so it's common to see mixed SNs but its usually not a problem legally (though can be a problem functionally).

The only number that matters in Michigan is the one on the frame.
