Getting ready to load my first 45acp ammo for my project 1911. I bought some 200gr SWC and some 200gr TC from Bayou Bullets. I have a pretty good supply of Power Pistol and about a pound of Bullseye. The Power Pistol loads are a little tougher to find than the Bullseye, (well DUH, dummy!). Seems like start will be 6.3, max 7.2 for Power Pistol, seem about right? I've read that the SWC are loaded with the shoulder just above the case mouth, a "thumbnail". Once I have that then measure the OAL? Not sure about the truncated cone, (TC)...I should email Donnie. Bullseye loads are pretty easy to find, planning a start load of 3.8 to max 4.5. I'll load up 5 of each bullet, two or three different loads, see how it works

I have not tried the Bayou bullets with Power Pistol yet. I tried PP with some 200gn plated SWC from Xtreme, and up to 7.0gn, and had poor consistency and was dirty. I had good luck with Bullseye, though.

The Bayou bullets I have tried so far are the 200gn RN, and the 225 FP. The RN did not seem to feed as reliably in my gun, but I have had good results with the 225FP so far. The only powders I have tried with the 225FP are WST and Titegroup - both worked really well.

Take a look at Expansion Industries ETR7. It is similar to Titegroup.

I have been using it behind some 230gr plated round nose and it shoots pretty nice! Or else I was just lucky today with about 300 rounds. :)

Really it is a good powder and available! I use it but am not sponsored by them so. . .give it a try!

be safe.

I haven't heard of them, checked their site, backordered! Figures, LOL. Anyone else used this powder?

Oh yeah, I didnt mean to hijack the discussion.

Donnie has a GREAT PRODUCT. I am almost out of 230gr plated .45acp.

Cannot wait to try some Bayou!

be safe.

BTW, THEY HAVE 59 4# JUGS OF POWDER RIGHT NOW. Back ordered on the 1#.
