Yeah, that's Willy. He's a friend of mine and that video was shot at one of my favorite shooting spots. I first posted this video on MadOgre.com until the viral nature crashed my server where I agreed to let it be posted on YouTube.com.
It's a .50 BMG, an Armalite AR-50 to be exact. His target is a plate of steel 1.5 inches thick. Willy is a former Marine and understands the risk of ricochets, so he angled the plate back and to the side so if a round bounced, it should have bounced off into a safe direction. He is also an expert marksman.
Since the range was only 100 yards, the round should have penetrated easily.
It was a total freak occurence that it bounced back at him.
He was wearing Caldwell electronic muffs. The muffs were destroyed. Willy was struck a glancing blow which left him unable to open his mouth wide enough to take a full bite of food... it still bothers him today.

That is a dramatic video George, weird what can happen.

Glad Willy is mostly OK. :)

he's gonna have bad dreams for awhile...lucky man; as for the drunk girl in the next video....so much for gun safety, my idea of "fun" has always been to put a weapon in the hands of someone i know can't handle it, and laugh when they almost break thier face....gotta give her credit though ,she didn't drop it.

Good way to encourage new shooters, friend

There's more to life than encouraging new shooters. Encouraging the existing ones to be careful & not get themselves killed would also be a worthwhile undertaking ...

:D

Sophistry. If he knows they can't handle it, that would make them new, whether to that specific firearm or just a new shooter, period - no? Allow me, then, to be less polite and more specific - handing someone a firearm he knows they can't handle merely for a giggle is irresponsible, immature and dangerous.

Andy --

Re-reading, I missed your point. I thought you were referring to the OP's video.

The guy who posted before you sure sounded sarcastic to me. I guess that's why I didn't key in on it as the reason you said what you said.

My apologies for the confusion!

Ah, I see - no prob, pax. I thought he was being serious - if not, my apologies to him ;)
