The site is fine, I like it. I'm sure those who run it are good folks.

I'm a M1 Carbine collector wannabe...

Found a Winchester on GA and sent the seller an email with questions. He answered within an hour and I decided I wanted the rifle... Asked him where to send the FFL and low and behold, he lives close by...

So I ask him if I can just come by and take a look..... he stutters and stammers and finally agrees to let me come take a look.

The pictures he posted on GA looked pretty good....

The rifle is crap....

he's refinished the stock....poorly. Not mentioned in ad

Stock has a long crack in it that wasn't mentioned in the ad

Aftermarket blued barrel.. not mentioned in ad

Receiver and trigger housing polished and reblued..... buffing before bluing blurred all the markings. not mentioned in ad

Aftermarket front and rear sight not mentioned in ad.

Included magazines have surface rust that he used the ol steel wool and oil trick on.. (not Win anyway)

The good news? I didn't get screwed

The bad news? Sombody's gonna.

When I told him "I'll pass" he proudly proclaimed that he had 2 other guys wanting it shipped to them....


I asked if he'd told them about the condition of the rifle.... "you're nuts this is a collector gun, and I'm selling it at a bargain" ($650).

Don't you think it would be better to warn us of a SELLER who might not be advertising his items truthfully, than to cast dispersions on the GunsAmerica website in your title?

I didn't read it or mean that way.... that's why I mentioned so in the first two lines of the post.

The guy is posting on Guns America, so the site name was relevant to the topic.

I edited it anyway in case someone else might be confused about it.

I like the site, visit it everyday. Been burned there before just like everywhere else EXCEPT this and a couple of other message boards where I only deal with regular posters.
