Double Naught Spy

I believe it was in Stephen Herrero's book, "Bear Attacks: Their Causes and Avoidance," is where I read his stats on the potential for more aggression after being shot if not downed by the shooter.
So this guy finds a big black bear boar bothering his chickens and so he shot it on Tuesday. Bear runs off. On Wednesday, the guy goes to look for the bear, finds it, and it is still alive. So, he shoots it again. The bear was not happy about being shot again and attacked the man who sustained numerous injuries. The bear was later killed by ODFW. The man is expected to recover.
I haven't found out what he shot the bear with, but whatever it was, he should have done a better job, twice. As ever, a wounded animal is potentially a very dangerous animal. Prepare accordingly when you go looking for an animal you shot previously, particularly if it is something like a large bear boar. Maybe take a friend along that shoots really well.

"Wounded bears can be dangerous. ODFW is aware of at least three incidents when wounded bears attacked hunters who had shot but not killed them. None were fatal.
Bear attacks are rare but tend to occur when bears are wounded, when they are being fed by people and lose their natural wariness, or when they are surprised by people or their dogs. Oregon has not documented any fatal bear attacks."
