Mondocomputerman,

The redhead in the green shirt...the expression on her face brings a smile to mine. Appears she's having a great time.

She actually uses that gun for clays, too.

Mod Note: Pic isn't SFW.

Here's my uh, PC9.

^There's a show called Battlestar Galactica with a character named Starbuck who looks somewhat like her.

US Army jacket, "M65 Field Jacket". Old style, replaced by now I think. I have a couple. :)

That's an M65? Weird. Must be just really worn in, though the pictures make it look like a knee/mid length coat. Damn.

Here's my girlfriend (shorter one in light blue) with my friend Kim and her then-fiance/now-husband Cam in the background (he's a cop, and brought his duty belt).

Ah, the fun of a Rem870. As a lefty, I prefer the Mossberg 500, but I left it at home. (My Kel-Tec SU-16B broke the firing pin a week before I drove out there with the guns, but it was only a backup to my M1 Garand that I took to Front Sight. My G19 was also present, but no photos of it were taken.)

That was Sarah's (my girlfriend) very first time shooting anything bigger than a BB gun. We went easy on her with birdshot, though. She really enjoyed the Beretta pistol, though -- she said the shotgun got heavy quickly, and the M1 recoiled too much for her taste (I can understand both counts). She really enjoyed it though, and wants to go again!

Make sure you are protecting these lovely ladies' eyes with some shooting glasses. Why risk impaired vision if something goes wrong when for $10 you can prevent a life changing eye injury? Every shooter needs to wear eye pro every time you shoot.

Oh, we were...it's just that for that picture Kim took off her shooting glasses. The shotgun was unloaded -- we were just showing Sarah how the mechanism worked. When we were actually shooting, we had glasses on.

Just a very short drift from the thread, I promise!

heypete -- You said that, as a lefty, you prefer the Mossberg 500 over the 870. I shoot long arms left-handed, so I'm curious--why the preference? I'm considering adding a shotgun to the toolbox. You can PM me if you don't want to contribute directly to my thread drift. Thanks! ;)

Pebcac, CleverName has it exactly: The M500 has the safety on the top-rear of the receiver, making it easy to operate with either hand (one uses the thumb to operate it).

The Remington shotguns have the safety down near the trigger guard, and it's a bit of a pain to work when left-handed. Also, the pump-release is, in my opinion, easier to reach with one's finger on the Mossberg. Just my $0.02. Do try both shotguns out to see which one fits you best.

remington makes a shotgun called the model 870lh the lh means left handed.

several years back i paid $190 for one that was painted silver metalflake on the metal.the wood had somekinda purple paint on it.i chucked the wood for black synth spedfeed stock, pachmeyer rubber forend and a 2rd extension and magspring.it also got a teflon/moly easybake finish.i shortened the already short barrel addeda polychoke and a sidesaddle shell carrier.it shoots great, patterns wonderfull and is a keeper.

a recent visit to remington.com shows that the lefty 870 is still in production as well as a somewhat priceier 11/87 autoloader lefthand.

i used to use mossbergs and my triggerfinger would hit the slide lock sometimes causing it to deactivate the firing mechanism.
