I just got my Yugo SKS back together after refinishing. I’m very pleased with the results. If this is what you call Bubba-izing, then I’m guilty. The stock originally looked like it was caked in mud. The grain was virtually invisible, so I decided I didn’t have anything to loose by refinishing. I used 1 coat of Minwax Red Mahogany Stain & 2 coats of Minwax Polyurethane. Well, here is a before and after combo photo.

Where is the 50rd detachable mag? Where is the Ram Line folding black plastic stock? Where is the cheap scope?

You call yourself a Bubba?! You are no Bubba!

Just joking. It looks good. Taking time to refinish an old stock is not really Bubbaizing something. Is repainting an old classic car in the orginal factory color Bubbaizing a car? No.

Thanks for the positive comments guys. I'm pretty happy with the results. The stock sanded down to a nice blond color with good grain, & the stain really pulled the grain out. I feel like I got a new rifle, with minimal work. Oh, & I'm glad to hear that this does not constitute Bubbaizing. I will hopefully pick up another unissued Yugo in the near future, & I will leave it original. Doug

Doug .. Bubba you ain't!:neener:

You have however it appears ''resurrected'' from the ''Cosmo and dings pit'' .... a rather nice piece. Good work .... I know you feel pleased ... who wouldn't.

Now go shoot the livin crap outa the thing!!:p :D

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Edit to add ... and now yours is done and you have so much time on your hands .. come on by and do that to my Yugo!!:D :D
But...but...but...Whars's the purty orange sheen? What'n'ell kinda Bubba you think you are? :mad:
:neener: :p :D
If that's the typical wood under the Yugo shellac, I can't wait to get mine.
It actually was fun "resurrecting" this rifle from the brown whatever it was. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the rifle originally. When I bought it the thing was covered in cosmoline & I didn't get a good look at the stock until after cleaning. After getting a look at the stock, I considered selling the rifle to a less finicky friend, but figured I'd give it a try at the range first. Well last Saturday I made it to the range & put 220 rounds through the rifle without a hitch. At that point I reconsidered selling, but still found the rifle hard to look at. The Minwax fixed that & now I'm a happy Yugo owner. Not bad for $110. Still going to find one of those pretty matching #'s ones though. Thanks again for the nice comments.
