I picked up a NIB old model Ruger Vaquero yesterday.

It was in perfect condition except for some surface rust on the top strap that just wiped right off.

When I checked the serial number on Ruger's website, I found that this gun had been manufactured in 1994.

Now here's my question and it comes from the collector in me:

Should I shoot the snot out of it or leave it as is?

There's not any collectors value on a 15 year old Vaquero as it left the factory, is there?

In about 25-50 years it may have some collector value. Ruger's made a bunch of them and they are common. Keep the box and the stuff inside there. Right now it's a shooter. Keep it in good condition and one day you can show your great grandkids your old gun that still shoots well. Meanwhile use it.

Shot it Saturday afternoon. Great pistol.

Good for you. It deserves to be shot. Heck, it was made for the job. :)

Looks like the real deal, by the way. Nice picture; thanks for sharing it.
