I have an AL390 Silver Mallard 20ga that my wife used to shoot. The stock was shortened and adjusted to fit her but still retains that plasticky gloss finish.
She no longer shoots or hunts so my dilemma is to find a replacement butt stock for it so that I, or any other "normal/average" sized human can shoot it. I see one at Numrich but it doesn't have the recoil pad.
Any hints, suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated as I am not a shot gun guy.

well anything Beretta is very expensive!! you may check around with gunsmiths for a take off stock, or buy a new one$$$$ try Boyds gun stocks. Coles Gunsmithing Maine is probably the best Beretta gunsmith in the USA. they may have something in a take off stock for you. wouldn't hurt to ask. they sell a lot of upgraded high dollar premium wood. Midwest gun works also may have something. you could use a slip on limbsaver pad to add length.

Many shotgun enthusiasts say the the Beretta 390 is the best auto Beretta ever made. I have 2 a 12ga and the non humpback 1301 in 20ga.

Good luck,

Bull

There are some other options besides total replacement. If you have any desire to keep the original wood you can add an adjustable length of pull contraption....or a recoil reduction contraption.
I've been out of the loop for a while, but graco or maybe kick eze... I doubt the gas op auto needs it, but its great for young or small shooters.

Well I went ahead and ordered a new butt stock. Numrich had a satin finish version with free shipping for less than 140 so we'll see how it looks.
Might need to re-finish the fore end as it has that shiny, "plastiky" finish on it that I have never liked.

Oh, and I found the original recoil pad for it in a box of stuff so got I that going for me. :)

The stock arrived and I installed it . Nice fit and, with that little cast off shim and the original butt pad it fits me pretty well.
Looks like I have a "new" shotgun and it's a lot lighter than my old 870's. :)
I'll still need to strip that fore end and stain it to match the new oil finished stock but I think I'll take it dove hunting first.
