I'm thinking about getting a 92X Performance, but with a due diligence and not jumping on it. So I started to put together a list of guns in the same class. Surprisingly, not seeing many that I could get instead of 92X. Maybe anyone here has ideas?
One thing though, I don't want anything beyond $2k. So, no STI 2011 Combat Master, or basically anything from the collection of Mr. LifeSizePotato.
And so:
- Walther Q5 SF. This one is actually exactly what I want: a striker-fired gun with a great trigger and performance. The only thing that stops me is that my wife already has a Q5, so it would be awkward for me to get a Q5 SF.
- CZ Shadow 2. The performance is undeniable, but something about the CZ-75 controls just does not sit well with me.
- Glock 34. I have a G19 and it seems a little too much work to run. Certainly, I'd get common magazines and I'm used to the trigger, but I want to step a little beyond.
- Beretta Px4. This one is a maybe, but 92X seems like something easier to modify for optic, and the aftermarket is going to be better (including holsters, longer magazines, and such).
- SIG P210A. I'd love to get this one, but the single-stack magazine is not acceptable due to requirements at a local match with house rules. Also, no path to optic.
- SIG P320 X-5. The idea of a tungsten-infused frame is intriguing, but I'm not sure about that one. I'm going to wait a couple of years on this.
- Springfield XD(m) 5.25". I have a 4.5" .45 and overall I like it, but it feels like it's not in the same performance class as the Walther Q5. Although, perhaps the 9mm version is better. Optics-ready slide only comes with a shorter model. The worst thing is, I run my .45 noticeably slower than a G42. It's a .45, so no wonder, but I feel that there's a little too much barrel flip that goes beyond the caliber difference.
