I got to looking at my guns and realized that I did not have a .22lr handgun, several rifles but no pistol. So I need to fix that problem in the next couple of weeks and was wondering about a Beretta Neo. They look alittle odd but I like the rail on it, and I am wanting to know if anyone has one or has just shot one and what they thought of it.

Thanks

My dad bought one. It shot good but was prone to jamming, I told him to break her in and see if the problem dissapeared but he got frustraded and sold it in short order.

movie knockoff

make sure you invest in a :what: pair of small dark :cuss: sunglasses before you buy it...misteeerrrr:evil: andersssooonnn:what: get a conversion kit for the beretta 92 if you have one...

Beretta Neo?
I thought is was a Beretta Nemo!!! arrrrrrrrrrrrgh...

And I had my hopes up tooooooo... :p

The Neos is a good entry level .22 LR pistol. It does not have a lot of aftermarket parts and accessories like the Ruger Mark I,II, III pistols, but it's a more user friendly than the Ruger. The accuracy is good for an entry level .22 LR pistol. If Beretta ever releases the long promised carbine kit, the gun will become more popular.

As far as drawbacks go... The gun's safety is positioned in an awkward place, but the pistol will probably not be used outside of plinking purposes so it's not a major deal. Some find the Neos' trigger a little on the heavy side but if you get one and don't like it, the guys over at www.rimfirecentral.com have worked out a trigger job that does the trick. If you're used to regular duty guns, you won't think twice about the trigger. Also, try to handle one at a gun shop or gun show so you can see if the grip width and angle works for your hand. -It would be better if you could try one at a range before buying it, but I'm guessing if you had the range option you would've tried it out instead of posting your question...

In regards to jamming, as a class, .22 caliber pistols are notorious for being finicky with cycling different ammo. You can find many threads asking why whatever .22 won't cycle X or Y brand of ammo. I have several friends with the Neos and so far no one has encountered ammo sensitivity with their particular choices. I know CCI's Mini-Mags generally work well in almost any .22 LR, so if you get something, you might want to run those through the gun.

Good luck.

I have had mine for over a year now and seldom have had any jamming problems. I am currently looking for the carbine kit so I can have even more fun. I have used it in cometition and it is also the best "plinker" I have to play with. I don't think you could go wrong with one.

I have one and a Ruger as well. The NEOS is easy to strip and clean, reasonably accurate, takes optics easily. I had some failures to fire and finally found a little burr on the slide that was keeping it slightly out of battery. Since I filed that off I have had no problems with good quality, full-power ammo. It doesn't like mild ammo. The Ruger feels better in my hand, I like the way it looks better, and is more accurate for me. It's a royal pain to srip down and clean; as indicated above there are a million accessories for it. The Ruger is also more accepting of different types of ammo for me.

Our Neos (I never get to shoot it when my wife comes along to the range) does great with the cheap ammo -- Winchester Wildcat, Remington Thunderbolt, Remington Golden Bullet HP, and Federal Champion. I agree with everything BreakerDave said. We have a Tasco Pro Point red dot sight on ours and its really a great plinker. I did the little polish and spring modification from the rimfirecentral trigger job and it made a large difference. Ours is the 6" stainless model.

Another plus, CDNN has spare Neos mags for $10 each.

Another satisfied Neos owner here also. I especially like the ease of field stripping and the rail. Add a cheap red dot and you are a range king. Still though, it is doofy looking. :)

Thanks for all the info, I will most likely pick one up in a couple of week after we get back from a family vacation.

I just got 6" one last week and was able to hit the range with it this weekend. Put about 120 rounds through it before it had feeding issues. Using the sights on the pistol made it hard to figure out where I was aiming (the range was in-door/dark).

I have had mine for about 2yrs. The finish in black .....sucks. so keep it oiled well. It likes to run a bit on the wet/lubed side. The function is great. The only ammo of many I have tried it does not like is Federal American Eagle. Cheap other cheap stuff runs well. My wife was pinging bowling pins at 20+yds offhand with the standard sights all day long last week. I like how it feels in my hand. I like this gun
