Beretta Storm; what is the effective range?

I kind of like the idea of the beretta storm. Soft shooting pistol calibers, higher capacity, higher accuracy. I know that the effective range is substantially decreased when compared to a similar sized rifle, but what is the effective range of a carbine like the beretta storm chambered in 9, .40, or .45?

The israelis trained to 200 meters with the uzi. I have no idea what those cartridges are capable of doing at that range.

I trained in Israel...including the UZI. I never did, or hear of, any training at 200 yards. We never even trained with Galils, M16s, or various MGs at 200 yards. Any "training" we did over 100 yards was on our own, on weekends.

To the Beretta...
My buddy and I can get consistent headshots at 100 yards with his, with a red-dot sight. Realistically I wouldn't plan to use one beyond 50-60 yards.

I'd look at it as a 50 yard effective gun with a 100 yard maximum.

I don't know, but it makes a nice quarter sized jagged hole at 30yds. It's also a plus having the matching pistol and carbine that use the same mags...tons-o-fun!

From the "similar but not the same" file: My friend has a 9mm Hi-Point carbine, and regularly hits a 36x36 newspaper in a frame from 300 yards using a full rest. It generally takes 4-5 rounds to walk it onto the target, but after that it'll hit about 80-85% from a rest. It does take some SIGNIFICANT elevation of the barrel to get them out there though.

I'd say 50 meters is no big deal and 100 is feasible but you need to figure out the bullet drop, based on experience with SMGs, but I'm not sure how much of a bump you get with the 16" legal barrel on the Beretta versus an 8" or so SMG barrel.

More of the 'same' given the 9mm cartridge and basic barrel lengths.

Uzi, 16" barrel. 100m is still pie plate on the semis I've handled, it will go out a little further and not be horrendous.

10" caps out at 100.

5" MP5k barrel is 100 topend as well, better sights and trigger account for the difference.

I'd put max effective on any of them at 150 on the highest of the highsides, lower if you're using 147gr. Any of them I'd feel comfortable with to 50, some to 75. Past that, I want a real rifle.

I think that's pretty much the rule of thumb. A pistol can get you away, or to a carbine that covers you up to 100 yards. The carbine can help you to run also, or get to a rifle with some real range and power.
