I heard today from my son, Bernie Mac goes shooting to relieve stress.

I have been known to pop a few caps, looking for a little stress relief.

Very cool. I knew that there was something I liked about the guy. I've only caught his show a couple times but it is hilarious.

I saw an episode of his show recently where he was showing off his easy chair.. He lifted up each armrest, and on one side was, IIRC, some cigars, brandy and the like, the other side had a remote control or some other tools, and  a pistol (PPK, sig p-230 or similar)..

He pointed to first to the cigars and such and said, "Pleasure."

Then he pointed to the other side with the pistol and said, "Business."

He then pointed DIRECTLY at the pistol and repeated, louder, "BUSINESS!" :D

My buddy keeps telling me this is a great show, but I just don't get into ANY shows anymore...

Thanks Rock Jock. Glad to see that I'm not the only confused one around here (although looking at some of the posts I KNOW that I'm not :D )

Comedian?

He is, literally, one of the "Kings of Comedy." His standup stuff is 20 times funnier than the show. I love it when he talks to "America" about his family problems. His show is positive, his character (and his wife) are taking care of his sister's kids because of the sister's drug problem. He plays himself on the show; a comedian named "Bernie Mac."

His show is on Fox, weeknights at 8 or 8:30.

I've watched a couple episodes. It certainly isn't your regular brainless black sitcom. But I'm still not a big fan of most any sitcom so... Knew there was something about the guy himself that seemed reasonable...

1. It's a great show, and I'm glad the guy who makes it is a decent sort.

2. I didn't know he was a shooter, but that's nice.

3. Not only does he "play himself" by making his character Bernie Mac the comedian, but he and his real-life wife really DID adopt their nieces and nephews when his sister had to deal with her drug problem. Having done this sort of thing myself recently, I give the man all the respect in the world. It's not easy.

Its true.

Page Six reported it today

BURGLARS, beware: It may be hazardous to your health to try to break into Bernie Mac's house. The funnyman tells Playboy his favorite hobby is collecting guns. "I have Glocks, .45s, Be rettas, over-unders, Remingtons," he says. "I like the marksmanship and the discipline that it takes to be a gun owner. I like the machinery, breaking it down. Being able to take it out, clean it and put the spring back in is even more fascinating than hav ing the gun."

I guess Playboy reported it too, but I don't have a subscription so I have no link.

For anybody who doesn't know who Bernie Mac is, he also played Chris Rock's brother/Vice-Presidential nominee in the movie "Head of State."

I knew he was a stand-up comedian, and a really funny one, too. After hearing about the adoptions, I see that he's a stand-up MAN as well.
Good to know.

I'm glad to hear of somebody in Hollywood who's a shooter.

I saw part of a documentary on AMC last month about conservatives in Hollywood.
They talked to Drew Carey.
He said he likes to shoot, but if the Hollywood establishment knew he had guns, it would make it hard for him to find work.
(I guess he's not worried about it now.)
He said there are a lot of conservatives out there, but they are afraid to "come out of the closet".

I never gave BM much credit, some of his earlyer matieral was racist and offensive, but I will pay more attention to him to see if my opinion will change.

Since Drew Carey came up, did you know he is a former Marine. I would never have guessed it.

He is also reprising his role as one of the '11' from Ocean's Eleven in the sequel, Ocean's Twelve.

He has a long resume: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005170/

I like his choice of words to describe gun ownership.

I thought he stole the show during the conference room sequence in Ocean's Eleven. His comedy routines are hilarious and he plays a great father on TV (unlike most other shows that portray fathers as incompetent idiots).

It's great news to hear he's a gun owner.

A few more prominent black men like Mac could start giving the pro-citizen-disarmament NAACP a run for their money.

I find his show quite funny. I am glad to hear he is not a rabid anti...I feel better about watching his show. He does promote a good character on it, shooter or not.
