I bought two 5 gallon buckets of range brass and needed an easy way to sort it and found this case separator and ordered one. It made short work out of the first bucket already. It also worked good to rinse the brass off before I started working with by just adding water to the tub. By just adjusting the grates for each size and rotating the hopper it will allow only that size to fall into the tub. First it will allow 22 brass and dirt to collect in the tub. Then 380/9mm, and 223, next 40/10mm, 38/357, then 45 acp and larger brass.I highly recommend this unit.

Those plastic items from Berry Mfg are all designed and built by them here in the USA. We all know their bullets are made here, but they also do their own in-house plastic injection molding. Those products are not some Chinese garbage they decided to market under their name, like so many other vendors do. I've always been very impressed by their products.

Does it separate 380 from 9mm?

I do not know about the Berrys, I have their media sifter before they adapted it to shell sorting. I would think not, as the tolerance between 9mm and 380 is very small

I have been using the Shell Sorter for years, the 380 plate is additional an it had to be made from aluminum(it also was less expensive back then!)

It works very well, BUT you can not overload it. If you do it will not work well (for any calibers). Just don't fill the darn things up.

I've been using one since they first introduced it at the SHOT Show a few years ago, and I wouldn't be without it. I have the sorter trays that some people use (3 different size trays), but those are just gathering dust since I bought the Berry's unit. The only drawback is that .30 Carbine and all .32 size brass slips through the tightest setting, but that's not a big deal.

Hope this helps.

There is a bullet shaped lever on each half for adjusting the width of the slots. With a little experimentation, it's simple and quick to adjust it for the caliber you want to sift out.

Hope this helps.

Can it sort 380 acp from 9mm??

It might be able to, but they're so close together in size that it might not be 100%. I just pick out the .380's with a pair of forceps from a 9" cake pan that I put them in for that purpose. My wife was throwing it away, so I appropriated it and it works good. I don't even keep 9x19 or .40 S&W brass anymore, since I've got 5 gallon buckets full of it and I'm running out of room, but I do keep the .380 brass for reloading and swaging .38 caliber bullets with. Scrap prices for brass are up again, so it all goes to recycling. My last batch from the range was 8 full five gallon buckets, and I recycled 5 of those.

When I bought the sorting trays, I also bought the aluminum .380 sorter, but never found it necessary, since the .380's stayed in the bottom sorter and I still had to pick them out manually.

Hope this helps.
