Bersa THUNDER 380!

Just got one for my wife. I’m hoping she likes it as much as I do. Our only complaint is no one makes a slimmer grip for it. I may try to swap a set of wood grips and see if I can carve them down with a dremel drum sander. It pockets well in my bigger pants. I’m hunting a three slot belt slide for her.

Hmmm, thanks! I learned something new today.

I have owned a couple and sold them. I kept thinking about them and buying a replacement, so I’ve kept two, a Thunder (all black in the pic) B8C39420-6DAF-41C1-8B0A-EEC61665F6CA.jpeg and an all steel previous Model 83 (wood grips in the pic).

As far as all mine, both past & present, they are great .380’s. Bersa’s been producing some model of this handgun since 1986 (the 383), so any design or manufacturing issues have been eliminated long ago on their 33 year old pistol.

The CC model of the Thunder380 has thinner grips (plastic). You may want to see if you can get those directly from Bersa. Just a thought.

I have the two tone Bersa Thunder 380. As another poster mentioned the MecGar mags work fine in it for me. Eats steel, brass, hollow points, fmj, plated, flat nose, round nose, long OAL, Short OAL's and does this when it is just dirty as heck. I have this in my range bag for the farm and usually put about 4 mags thru it each weekend. It is a joy to shoot. Probably one of the best cost to value 380 pistols that I own.

I learned to double tap with this Bersa. Enabled me to move up to double tap a 9mm and eventually the 45.

I have a Combat plus and it is a good gun, no complaints. I have only used the factory mags, 1 that came with it and another I bought. 16 rounds of 380 loaded with 65 gr Lehigh Extreme Defense make a potent package.

I have owned 2 Bersa guns. One was one of the older versions that had a single action trigger and an extended barrel with a threaded barrel that held the front sight on. You had to remove the front sight to remove the slide. That one was in 22lr. Good shooting all steel gun.

Then a few years ago I bought a Thunder 22 because I really want a Beretta model 70 in 22lr and this was the closest thing I could find. That was also an excellent shooting gun. Another guy begged me to sell it to him so I did. For a profit. This thread makes me want another one in 22lr.

Have you ever been to this shop? If so opinions good or bad. I see it's outside the beltway just off 290 so it would be about an hour plus drive for me and wouldn't have to drive in the quagmire of Houston traffic. Worth it to me if they have a Thunder Plus in stock. Have been looking for one for a couple of years and my LGS can't order one.
Feel free to PM me if you want.

All good experiences with them so far. PM sent. :)

I have 3 bersas. They are a excellent value. Eagle imports has wood grips for the thunder and cc models. Thunder plus grips seem nonexistent. I have never had a jam using factory magazines. Once again eagle imports Carries them. Thunder plus mags aren't always in stock. I highly recommend these guns.

I like them. I've owned 3 and talked my brother in one. He chose the double stack version. Smooth DA trigger. Carries it in his backpack to work. (AZ)

I will contact them and see if they fit

Buds has the threaded 22 guns for around $250. I was looking at them last night. I don't know if they have the threaded 380s. I didn't look. I don't have a suppressor right now anyway. The non threaded 22s were around $230. Thats better than the GB prices I found and comes with free shipping.

I have a couple in .380 and have nothing but good to say about them. On the other hand, I have one in .22 that I would take 2 bits just to get rid of the gun.
