This does not answer your question but I'll say it ....save and get a Colt Gold Cup if you can wait. I had a Stainless & Blue series 80 and really enjoyed both of them. I recently purchased a Stainless Gold Cup Trophy. It is flawless. Not one problem so far. 500 rds. The Blue Gold Cups are a $100 or so cheaper. I'm in no way bashing the other 1911's...but the Gold Cups are a notch above.
I just bought my first 1911, I went with the Taurus pt1911 AR. I couldn't turn down a brand new, tricked out 1911 with an accessory rail for under $500. It looks pretty good now that I did a thorough cleaning to get off the massive amounts of oil they seem to soak it in at the factory. I took it to the range tonight, I got good groups with some of my shots, but I've got some work to do. I'm definitely flinching a little, I'm not used to shooting .45...
Anyway, if you're looking to keep the price down, the Taurus seems like a good option to me.
