Best budget to mid range scope for the Springfield M1A

I have a standard Springfiled M1A rifle. I want to get a good scope for it so I can use it to reach out accurately at long range, but I am on a budget really, and can't afford an expensive scope. Any suggestions on a good quality but less expensive scope in the $200-300 range max, less if possible?

Any thoughts on a used scope? Where would I get one?

What mount are you running? If you don't have a mount on it, you can expect to pay at least that much just on the mount. In terms of $300 scopes, you get what you pay for in optics and that ain't much. I think the lower end Vortexs start about there, and that is where I would look first.
