I'm looking subsonic ammo to use for plinking, so I don't want to spend a lot of money. I will be shooting mostly in a RARR but later in a Sig MCX, so I'm also looking for ammo that will work in a semi-automatic.

I don't want ammo that is going to dirty up my rifles and suppressors, so if that means no polymer coated rounds, it'd be good to know now.

A coworker has a .300 BO and he said he used the subsonic Sig ammo but it was not actually subsonic and was supersonic. Don't know if he got a bad batch or what, but he said he won't use it anymore. He said it cycled fine.

1.) Is remanufactured ammo bad?

2.) Is loaded in once fired brass bad?

3.) Is fully processed brass bad? (What does it even mean?)

4.) Is polymer coated lead bullet bad?

I'm assuming that if I order from a website that is on ammoseek that it's a reputable dealer and I won't have any problems, correct?

Some of the ammo for cheap I've found to be on www.ammoseek.com and I've seen these brands: Are these all good?

I answered some of this in your other thread. Ive used the sig ammo in both my rar and my ar 300aacs it was subsonic in both, but still pretty loud compared to my powderpuff handloads, this is unsupressed.

For sound reduction the rar will have an advantage when used with fast powder handloads, I used 231 behind 245 mbc coated for some surprisingly quiet loads. They were very slow but shot into about 2" at 50 and 3-5 at 100, which was farther than i was inclined to lob them.

You mean the bullet dropped 3-5" inches at 100 yards?

Naw 3-5" groups at 100 drop was about 2 feet....this is from my rar

Actually thats an exaggeration, drop was probably 15" or so, when shot at the center of a normal piece of paper i use to print targets they would land around the bottom of the paper below.

Cheap sub-sonic plinking = 147gr 9mm FMJ, half that if you reload them. Cheap ammo and .300BO don't seem to go together, maybe someday. If you are willing to shoot someone else's (commercial) reloads you might get below $0.50/round

Dang. That's a ton of drop at only 100 yards.

Thats not too bad of drop, a 45 acp drops about 20" if i remember right in 100 yards. The 300blk is not intended to be a long range weapon, and even less so subsonic. 100-150 yards into 6" is a lot better than most subsonic pistol caliber stuff can do with commercially available ammo. The main purpose of 300blk is to extend the range of a suppressed ar15 TO 100 yard, and still be able to swap out to supersonic ammo and have 300 yard effective range. Its far from a "do all" cartridge, but for a dual sport, its pretty fun. I will say that it is primarily a handloaders cartridge, tuning loads to your gun is where it shines...

^ called it.
While you can chose ammo that does what you want as closely as possible, only by hand loading can you fully tailor rounds to your firearm or uses, and the aac is kinda a specialized beast in subsonic form.

To cycle a semi youll need more pressure at port, which translates into more pressure at muzzle so more noise.
With a non self cycling action you can tune your loads to produce an acceptable velocity and accuracy while also producing less noise.
The subsonic loads i ran in my were ment for 50yds and in, and as little noise and powder as i could manage. They were probably only 850-900fps, but with a 245grn hard lead bullet they punched thru stuff pretty good.

Btw loonwulf, what brand bullet are you using for those subsonic loads?

I'm a dummy. I own a quality .30 silencer, own 4 AR's and dont have a .300blk yet. Subsonic ammo prices have kept me from moving into that realm. Seems crazy to me to spend as much or more per round on sub .300's than brass .308 FMJ. Cant wait for .300 sub's to drop into the .30 cent region.

I shot a ton of poly coated thru my rar and never had any fouling to speak of quick tug thru with a bore snake and back in the cabinet it went. My ars i would break down after shooting but never found any lead or other weird fouling in my gas system or barrel. If it didnt get deposits there id assume a suppressor should be all right.
