not my name, but what Mossberg gave it: "Pursuader" haha I love it. If it was pointed at me I'm sure I would be pursuaded as well.

Gladys is an awesome one, Marv o marv, too bad you had to die in that movie.

I think "the judge" is also a pretty damn good one.

I have named a few of them. Nothing creative, really. The ones I've named are as follows:

Beatrice
Bertha
Betsy
Gertrud
Gretchen
Natalya
Olga

Weldon - saiga 12 shotgun, some j.b. weld on, mods are job well done, if it comes out your goose is cooked.

Kissy, walther p38. my uncle had a german girlfriend named kissy. fatal fraulein, kiss of death

Pete and Repete, matching ruger revolvers.

Joke about naming

A little indian boy comes to the medicine man and asks How do we get our names? The wise old man explained. When we are born the medicine man comes to our teepees and asks the great spirit to show us a sign and the name is the first thing we see when we go outside. Why you ask little two dogs f**king?

Just today I came up with a name for my Glock26 on the fly. CA laws prevent me from carrying it almost anywhere and we were parked outside the range but he wanted to stop by the Arby's which was next door. So we walked over, I couldn't take my gun locked in case in a shooters bag into the restaurant (illegal!) so it was in the car.

It's a rough neighborhood (Inglewood ring any bells?) and some guy was eyeballing us as we walked in and I turned to my friend and jokingly insinuated he was looking for a fight and we'd have to do it with our hands because "Thumper" was in the car. Didn't want to talk about my gun so openly in that part of town.

So that's the long version of the name. THUMPER.

I also like simple semi-childish names like:
Captain Shooty
McBang Bang
And
The Blam-O

My Browning High Power's name is "Jenny".

My Encore pistol's name was "Bertha".

A friend had a smoothbore 870 with a Bushnell scope on a B-Square mount. It was old and he hunted with it on lots of rainy mornings. He called it Old Rusty. He notched many deer with that gun.

Remington 870 (the old, pretty kind) with 30" full choke barrel that has killed many ducks that were way on out there: International Harvester

My first Muzzle loader was T/C Renegade .54. Which I still have. Anyway, I took my best friend out shooting with it. He had never been shooting, or ever shot a gun before, let alone a muzzle loader. He watched as I loaded it, commenting on the size, and shape of the bullet, T/C Maxi Hunter. And then seeing the entrance, and exit holes, after hitting a washing machine, " Now thats Blunt Destruction". The name stuck, and in the truest Daniel Boone, Davy Crocket legacy I engraved the name in the stock. bluntdestruction.gif

Gun names

My dad had a 22-250 788 rem in the 70's he named old thunder. Said when thunder sounded meat fell. Had a 12x weaver on it , one of the old steel tubes. The old rifle was a good shooter.

This is my latest project gun , Call it( Mine sweedie pie.)

Names I like from this thread so far:
-Ma Deuce (for any .50 caliber gun, as a homage to the M2.)
-Peacemaker (an handgun. You could extend it to rifles, too, but it just doesn't seem right. A classic name.)
-[My] Boomstick/Thunderstick (that is what it is, no?)
-Fantastic Plastic (any polymer gun.)
-Tactical Tupperware (any polymer gun.)
-Chicago Typewriter (Any SMG, Thompsons especially.)
-Atomic Annie (as a homage to the nuke gun of the Korean War. Preferably something with a big muzzle flash and report.)
-Vera (gotta be a big gun.)
-Wallet
-Master Key (for a shotgun.)
-Zeke (it just sounds cool. Any NATO nickname is fair game, I think [yes, I realize "Zeke" was before NATO].)
-Meat Stick
-Quack Smacker (HD weapons especially. Like shotguns.)
-Loaded
-Brass Rain (any automatic high-capacity weapon.)
-Sarah Jane
-Reason & Wits (make these a pair of weapons.)
-[The] Big Stick
-Big Burp, Little Burp (for a pair of carry weapons)
-Persuader (any shotgun, it's gotta have that big bore. I do believe this was a general name for shotties before Mossberg named their coach gun it.)
-Gladys
-The Judge
-[Big] Bertha (gotta have a big flash and report.)
-Mary
-Pete and Repete (pair of something, preferably pistols.)
-Captain Shooty
-Ol' Suicide (it's gotta be a Nambu)
-[The] Exorcist (long gun only.)

Some of my own:
-The Pen (a reference to a Patton quote. Preferably for automatic weapons.)
-The Dispatcher
-Optimus Prime (not mine.)
-The Equalizer
-My Little Friend (a variation on this is "My Little Friends", referring to the rounds, not the gun.)
-[The] Sleeper (don't wake up the Sleeper...)
-Black Magic (for a black rifle)
-The Wizard
-Carolyn McCarthy's Worst Nightmare (any "tacticool" weapon. Can abbreviate to "Cameron" if you're creative.)

- Old slabside, or old loudmouth (1911)
- Mossberg 500 "Persuader" series
- Colt Dragoon (Model 1848 Percussion Army Revolver)
- Smith & Wesson revolvers, such as the Combat Masterpiece, Combat Magnum, Distinguished Combat Magnum, etc
- Colt Python, King Cobra, Anaconda, etc

I call my 870 "Mr. Boomy." I got the name froma movie. I can't remember the title, but it involved Edward Norton in a dinosaur suit, and Robbin Williams as a guy who lost his TV show and went nuts. He held a couple people at gunpoint, and when someone talked back to him, he held up the gun and said "I have Mr. Boomy missy!"

I also call my SKS "The Commie Gun."

I have yet to name my Mossberg 183.

Big Bob- The name my dad gave to his old Ruger Blackhawk .357 Magnum after hearing me call it that when I was 11 and felt the concussion of it going off 4 feet away.

Young Bob- Name for the GP100 that replaced the Blackhawk.

Larry- M1 Garand that we got. Named it after the guy that had it before us.

Larry, Jr.- M1A (M14) that was named after the same Larry that we got the Garand from. Jr. because it's a newer design.

Igor/ Yuri/ (insert Russian name here)- Saiga. Russian name for the Russian gun. Stoners... "Whoa dude... it's... logical."

Black Lightning- AR-15/ M4gery/ M16. What I'm going to call my AR if I can ever afford one.

Nasty Little Sumbitch- applies to a number of guns we have/ had, including a 16-gauge bare-bones Iver Johnson that kicks like a mule to a Glock 19 we had before trading it in for a SA XD- 40.

The Puzzle- My new nickname for the Ruger .22LR pistol. Take it apart... COMPLETELY apart... and you will know what I mean. But, for the record, I'm pretty sure my dad's MKI was the cleanest pistol in the world by the time I was done taking it apart. I just couldn't get it back together.

A number of names can be applied to shotguns... from the Exorcist to Ex- Lax to the Master Key.
