I have an uncle who bought one of these (I really should get one too, but he has no kids and I'll get his one day) recently at my suggestion. He bought a scope too, but this is a bigger PITA than shooting with the stock sights.

What iron sights would work well on the gun and not be obtrusive and easily damaged. I seem to have heard Williams makes a good peep sight for these.

Suggestions?

I think the Williams is the best available, which isn't to say it is the best that could be devised. What we need is someone to make a set of M1 Carbine-type sights for it (and not out of plastic either)

The Williams WGRS sights work well--you'll need a front and a rear sight--both come in one package for around $35 IIRC.

For awhile I had one of the WalMart special edition models with the 22" bbl and the Williams sights. It was a very nice setup.

I had the williams peep and bead on my 10/22.
With cheap 22 ammo 3" groups at 100 weren't uncommon.
I got mine from natchez .
Stay away from the Zephyr sights sold in Cheaper than Dirt.
Mine never held a zero due to the plastic, the click adjustments were a joke as well.

I have both the Zephyrs and Williams and what I did was use thw Williams rear sight and the Zephyr front post which regulates well with the Williams rear. The Zephyr rear is junk as noted and I just happened to like the post better than the bead for the front.

It's a sweet setup.

Good idea Edward, it would take alot of effort to break that Zephyr front sight. The Williams bead seems like it would bend alot easier.

Williams peeps require a new front sight. I suggest their Fire sight. This is how my gun is set up. Nice thing about the fire sights is that the riser has locking set screws instead of being a pound-fit deal. They are VERY easy to install once you get the factory blade off and they don't look funny. VERY nice sight picture. I have all black or blued pieces on my stainless gun and they contrast nice. The Walnut stock is also very sweet looking.

Thanks guys. I think I'll be using the C&R discount at Brownell's to get him one before I visit and we go shooting.
