Best Price for Uberti 1858 Remington C&B Cylinder?

I'm looking for a C&B cylinder, blued, for a Uberti 1858 Remington New Army in 44. The best price I have found on the net is Taylor's at $66 - anyone know of a better price somewhere?

I'm willing to buy used also if anyone knows of one available; I posted a WTB in the classifieds.

nope, that's cheap for Uberti. I've seen them go for $100.00 elsewhere.

Do you think a Pietta cylinder is going to work OK in the OP's Uberti?

CRUD! No thanks, Junkman...I'm going to fix that. I have swapped cylinders from make to make, but it's just the luck of the draw, and doesn't always work.

I searched the web also looking for the best price for a 44 caliber c&b cylinber for an Uberti 1858 Remington New Army and Taylor's $66 price was the best I could find. Would love to find some used ones about half that price.

That's really inexpensive compared to the price of a replacement Ruger Old Army cylinder, that is if there were any readily available.
Spare Pietta cylinders aren't getting any less expensive either, and even some replacement semi-auto magazines cost more than that.
Maybe their cost is somehow related to the price of [olive] oil in Italy................ in Euros of course.

I have been thinking of getting an extra Cylinder for my Uberti Remington.


Do these usually jump right in?

Or, do they tend to need some sort of fussing or fitting?

And how would one 'fit' a spare Cylinder, anyway?

I have two Uberti 1858 Remmies. I had trouble the first time I switched the cylinders.
I had to fit my hand on one of my revs a bit to make the cylinder out of the other one work right. The cylinder failed to turn all the way on one chamber only. The cap was not under the hammer so it misfired everytime. Had to turn the cylinder by hand til it clicked to fire. I didn't pose a problem when firing the revolver's original cylinder and the clyinder out of the malfunctioning revolver worked perfectly in the other revolver.

It was simple to fix once the source of the problem was determined. There was a bur on the hand. A nice polishing did the trick.
