Best universal powder for handgun?

Even though W231 is probably my favorite powder I have to agree Universal is probably more versatile and only because you have the 40 S&W in the mix. If you were reloading the 9mm, 45 Auto and .38 Special only, W231 would be my suggestion. The 40 S&W needs a slightly slower powder like Universal.
As a side note, you might want to look into Winchesters new powder AutoComp. I'm not sure if it does the .38 Special well but it was developed specifically for the 9mm, 40 S&W and 45 Auto and all the reports I've seen say it works extremely well.
