Beware of Wolves in Sheeps' Clothing: Extremist NRA Leadership Is Coming to Pittsburgh Friday, Says Freedom States Alliance

4/13/2004 2:27:00 PM

To: National and Assignment Desks

Contact: Mark Karlin, 312-474-1740 or 312-719-4228, or Bryan Miller, 856-371-3038, both for the Freedom States Alliance

WASHINGTON, April 13 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following was released today by the Freedom States Alliance:

"Beware of Wolves in Sheeps' Clothing: The extremist NRA leadership is coming to town on Friday. They choose guns over the safety of our police, children and national security."

The NRA's purpose in coming to Pittsburgh on Friday is to help swing Pennsylvania into the Bush/Cheney column. But, gun violence prevention advocates will argue that the NRA is a wolf in sheeps' clothing, extremist and supportive of actions that will enable terrorists to more easily purchase guns, with some NRA Board members having made racist statements unacceptable to most law- abiding Americans.

The NRA leadership is radical and opposed to many gun-related law enforcement measures that can help solve crimes and save police lives. From their support for civilian ownership of .50 caliber sniper rifles that can be used by terrorists to down airliners to their championing of assault weapons that threaten law enforcement officers, the NRA Board of Directors protects the gun industry and backs a radical ideology at the expense of public safety.

"Pennsylvanians are too smart to buy the wholesome, guy next door image that the NRA leadership wants to convey," Bryan Miller, whose brother was an FBI agent killed by an assault weapon will say. "Many of the members are indeed nice guys, but they've allowed their organization to be run by radicals who put ideology over the safety of our police officers, our families and our children."

WHO: Bryan Miller, president of the Freedom States Alliance (a coalition of state gun control groups), will be joined by Hill Jordan of the Pittsburgh NAACP and Mary Beth Hacke (who lost her child to gun violence) of Ceasefire Pennsylvania.

WHEN: Wednesday, April 14, at 10:15 a.m.

WHERE: 213 Bailey Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pa. News Conference Room on the Second Floor of the Urban Mountain Gathering Place. From downtown Pittsburgh: Travel across the Liberty Bridge. Telephone 412-381-8647 for questions about directions (just minutes from downtown).

I wonder if he will whine, "From my shaking, sweaty palms!" ;)

"I've soiled my man-panties! I need to cuddle with my pookykins!" :neener:

Does anyone find it odd that a group vehemently opposed to the 2nd Amendment calls themselves the "Freedom States Alliance?"

No. The antis are very adept at perverting the language. In this case, it probably means something FDR-esque like "Freedom from Fear."

Bryan Miller, an unrepentant gun grabber, sniping at targets of opportunity, and taking out the Bill of Rights as collateral damage.

His brother died defending what he wrecks.

"Pennsylvanians are too smart to buy the wholesome, guy next door image that the NRA leadership wants to convey,"

Fortunately, my experience with most Pennsylvanians bears out the notion that they're too smart to buy Mr. Miller's radical, anti-American rhetoric.

I just love the complete innacurracies involved in Anti's statements. Isn't the current head of the NRA a retired Police Officer, I wouldn't think he'd "put ideology over the safety of our police officers, our families and our children."

I also wonder what Bryan Miller would say about the GOA or the JPOF, when he calls the NRA leadership "radicals".

Would somebody please tell me where I can buy a 50 caliber sniper rifle that can be used by terrorists to down airliners?

I have yet to see one of these. Terrorist would have to be a danged good shot to take out a 747 at 35000ft with a .50.

Smoke

Nevermind that several dozen .50 slugs were often not enough to knock down a WWII era plane.

Let's see, the nasty NRA in its 133 year history has taught over one million LEO firearms saftety and marksmanship. The NRA has 10,000 police certified firearms instructors.

I guess when it comes to law enforcement the NRA is definitely on the wrong side. Good grief!

1) What do all police officers carry on their hips? HINT: I'm not talking about mace, batons, cuffs or flashlights.

2) What do all soldiers carry into battle and use to fight wars to protect our national security?

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! :D :D :D Thanks for a great laugh!!! :)

What do they mean, though? They don't think that civilians should be allowed to own replicas of "assault weapons"?

And how can we own a replica of something that doesn't really exist anyway?

Can I own a replica of a real assault rifle, then? How 'bout a real one?

:)

So, since it seems that the antis are gearing up their spin machine for this weekends meeting in Pittsburgh....what do you figure are the chances that they are going to make us run a gauntlet of protestors to get to the conference center:rolleyes:

Let's make a parody videotape of a can of gasoline, a chemistry book, a plane ticket, and a computer modem all of which can be used by terrorists and all of which I think should be availble to civilian.

I'm a "gun violence prevention advocate"!!!......(the more law abiding people have guns, the less likely criminals will use their guns to commit crime :D ) I most certainly will NOT argue that the NRA is a wolf in sheeps clothing

...gun violence... NRA... wolf... extremist... enable terrorists... guns... NRA... racist... unacceptable.

Pretty good sentence don't you think? Some little noogie has worked long and hard on his agitprop homework. He deserves a big read star on his paper, don't you think boys and girls?
