Apparently the firm that has produced Diana airguns for decades ( a Family run Company) has sold the company to a giant German Conglomerate.
Now this brings a lot of questions up as to the future of the quality, lines and new models yet to come. Will they be better, Imported, will new models appear and old ones disappear, and what about the generally superfair prices of The Diana line?
Well the future plans weren't divulged in the translated article.
However the purchaser has developed a huge line of rimfire rifles and apparently has a good reputation in the Motherland!
It isn't one of those leverage buyouts rather a simple purchase by a good firm.
Boy things are going to change at Diana!
I for one am glad that I have the half dozen "OLD" Diana's just in case.
I'd suggest grabbing up a used .22 Model 34 just in case...

I was thinking that Umarex already owned them.

That really is a LARGE company. And they do put their name on quite a few products from one end of the price range to the other. The thing I have found about Umarex products is that they do usually work, and work well....even the Chinese made guns.

No not Umarex. They are merely a distributor for DIanas.
I can't remember the name of the conglomerate that bought em out but it's a well established firm who's done business in Germany for years.
To tell you the truth, the probabilities that the Diana line might benefit by the purchase of the company are supported by the brief history that I read about the new owners. Evidentlly they are well established and make other quality products and the probability of the standards already established by DIana will continue or increase are very good!
I'd hate to see the company turn to Hatsan quality airguns or worse yet Asian quality imports.
I will try to reserch more information about the new owners if I can.
Gosh I have loved Diana's since I was introduced to them back in 1960 and I hope thatmy experience with the brand will continue!

PS I just got the name of the buyers
"German Sport Guns", dealers of many brands of airguns, airsoft replicas and a huge line of rimfires. They sell all major German, Swiss and British products also a line of pretty good scopes.
This is going to be interesting!
Like I said go and grab a used D 34 in .22 caliber!

GSG...they do make 22 rimfire as well, and I own one of their 1911's and am pretty happy with them. They also made the Sig 22 1911....exact same gun. They also make a 22 version of a StG 44, MP5...several other things. I have been pretty happy with the quality of my GSG fire arms.

All the GSG firearms I have seen are well made and the owners all like them. I doubt they will skimp on quality. But you might consider:

Nicht Mutterland - immer Vaterland!!

That's ok, Weihruauch airguns have always been nicer than Dianas and will continue to be.

Not that I'll be getting rid of my RWS 48, or anything.

This is old news.

The RWS 34 i got a year or so ago is nothing compared to the one i got 20 years ago. Umarex made it; and it's crap. plastic parts, plastic sights, and odd and poor rifling that doesn't hold a minute with any pellets i tried.

Funny mine works great and I had one over 20 years ago as well and sold it and wound up buying one about 3 years ago. Does a great job on backyard squirrels stealing bird foo too........ ;)

That was before production was moved to a toy factory....AKA Umarex...which probably outsources to China.

Air gun snobbery....care to tell us how Gamo is also total crap.

Snobbery? ha. NO.

Comparing two guns side by side and seeing obvious differences in finish and overall quality is not snobbery. It is simple observation.

Gamo IS total crap.
To claim otherwise is to delude yourself.
English and German airguns are the top of the heap.'
I've handled and shot enough Gamos airguns to know I'd never waste money on one.

It's not snobbery when it's true.

My 48 was made in '05 or '08, I forget which. It's a powerful and well made springer.
It's nowhere near as nice as my HWs, but it's a hell of a lot better than the garbage Gamo peddles.
