I went to two ranges today and got to shoot a couple nice weapons. The first was a coworkers custom built Mauser. My coworkers grandfather bought a German Mauser and completely rebuilt it. He slicked up the action, rebarreled it for 6mm Rem, put in a new light\crisp trigger, and then made a custom thumb hole wood stock for it. The magazine plate has an engraving on the bottom of a wolf and my Coworkers initials that looks very professional. It was topped with an old Bushnell 3x9 scope that was apparently a top line scope back in the 80's when the rifle was built. The rifle was bought when my coworker was born and given to him as a graduation present.

Well I shot it up against my Savage 10fp .308 to see how she runs. My coworker is just out of high school and doesn't have very much shooting experience. The first go around I shot 3\4'' and 1'' three round groups with my Savage and he shot about a 2 1\2'' group. He let me shoot it and my first three round group was under 1\2'':what: I have had my Savage for almost a year and have never shot it that well! I have to say that Mauser was the nicest rifle I have ever fired. After firing it, I told him he needed to put a better scope on it to really get the best out of the rifle.

Later on in the day we met up with my wifes two younger brothers, one is celebrating his 18th birthday and the other is home on leave from the Marines. They brought a xd45, an AK, and rented a Bushy 7.62 M4. The XD was a blast to shoot and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a 45 service pistol. It was accurate and didn't kick very much. The 7.62 M4 was a bit heavier than I expected. I thought they would weigh more like a standard AR but It shot well and didn't have any hiccups. The blast on it was severe, especially indoors, but was still fun to shoot.

I put another 100 rounds through my Witness 9mm and it continues to amaze me how easy this pistol is to shoot accurately. Im still getting used to the trigger as Im shooting a little to the right during my drills. I just need to get more time with it because it shoots to POA if I really concentrate on the fundamentals. My double taps are only a few inches apart at 7 yards. I dont think thats to bad for a pistol I have had less than a month.

Well that was my day. I started shooting at noon and didnt stop until six. All in all, a very good day.:D

I'm jealous. I just spent the day working :scrutiny: I left home this AM, it was dark and when I got home, it was dark...I hate that :banghead:

My M4 is only 5.56....now I've got to go back to the store.

Will I ever catch up?

That 7.62 sounds awesome. Is it 39mm, can I use the same ammo as my AK?
