Bill Ruger's Dirty Little Secret

That is not only ancient it's irrelevant. Sturm Ruger & Co makes quite a few guns w/ hi cap magazines today. They just recently released a pistol w/ 17+1 capacity and they are marketing it first and foremost to civilians.

If you want to get angry, try to concentrate on things that have happened this century.

1,000,000 threads......Bill Ruger is dead, let it go.

RIP, Bill Ruger.

Granted, he was imperfect, but he made a lot of good quality guns at reasonable prices, and he spent a lot of money on RTKBA issues that we tend to forget because he tried to go along to get along. It was an ineffective strategy that he paid for big time while he was still alive. Let it go, all in all he did far more good for the cause than bad.

How many of you know about, or remember Bill Ruger Sr's betrayal of gun owners in 1989 ?

It comes up every few weeks, regular as clockwork. Some people boycott on account of it, which is certainly their right. Others do not.

Rest in peace, Bill Ruger.

How does that work?

It doesn't, because you're propagating GOA idiocy. They're irrelevant & ineffectual and therefore they have to attack NRA, 'cuz it's their only talent.

The NRA, while not perfect, has done a helluva lotta good. They drove AW ban to a successful non-renewal, and drove passage of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. Drove NICS Improvement Act so disabled vets can recover gunrights - and served as a political placekeeper so HR1022 doesn't get much attention and dies on the vien.

Bill Ruger made some stupid statements. He's also dead now.

As companies, Ruger and S&W (and Glock to some extent) have borne the brunt, in total $$$, of fighting idiotic gun lawsuits. By that extent alone, Ruger deserves credit as it stopped much bad law from propagating outward and affecting other vendors. Steve Sanetti should be thanked for that - he's probably saved many of the smaller custom gunmakers.

Because you are dealing with irrational people who enjoy sensationalizing on the Internet. I should ask why you just made a ridiculous one line statment that is easily disproven with references to the numerous threads where the NRA is villified for its choices. I won't however, because why should I help put on the muscle show if I don't have to?

Close the curtain on your show and accept that many people don't feel good unless they are bleating about how bad this organization or that person performed when the most they've done for the 2A is to logon to this board. Bill Ruger and the NRA have made some bad calls but who here hasn't made a bad call and more importantly, how many people here have attained the level of success Ruger or the NRA have? The latter are the ones whos opinions count.

Bill Ruger Sr. is dead.

Bill Ruger Jr. is no longer involved with Sturm Ruger since his retirement/resignation.

Do you have any dirty little secrets about Alex Sturm? He's dead too and none of his relatives are associated with Sturm Ruger either.

I know who Bill Ruger was, and what he did for firearms owners everywhere.

I know who the NRA is and what they do for firearms owners everywhere.

Who are you, exactly, and what do you do for firearms owners everywhere?

I heard on the news that Zombie Bill Ruger supports a new assault weapon ban, wants to reduce the resistance when the zombie uprising begins!

Wow, a person finds out a piece of "gun history" so to speak and everyone jumps on the bandwagon to bash the guy.

Old news to us...but may have been NEW news to him.

Thought this was the High Road?

Yeah, after doing a whole lot of nothing when it got passed in the first place....and before I get bashed..I am a life member.

Its neither little nor a secret.

But as has been stated, Ole Bill is dead and none of his descendants (familial or philosophical) are running Ruger now so the point is moot.
