I already have a Streamlight TLR-1 weapon light that transfers back and forth between whatever I'm currently using for HD. I recently acquired a Blackhawk Tactical Serpa holster, which says do not use without Xiphos.

I'm not going to run out and purchase a new weapon light when my TLR-1 works just fine, nor do I want to spend $100+ on a Xiphos. Will the TLR-1 work in lieu of a Xiphos, or should I trade the holster for something different?

I'd be willing to wager that you will find more holsters that accommodate the TLR series since they have been out since 2005.

Only you can determine what will work best for you.

Do you have the Serpa holster, or the Serpa lightbearing holster?
The light only works with the lightbearing holster. And FWIW, the Xyphos is the only light that will work with that holster. Additionally, the Xyphos will only work with the Serpa holster, and nothing else. Not Safariland, not Bianchi, not G&G or Galco, etc. In contrast, the TLR-1 has several options available. The TLR-1S is also good, in that it is 160 lumens, which is fantastically bright.

If you decide that you want the Serpa/Xyphos, feel free to PM me. I have a used basketweave Serpa duty lightbearing holster w/ Xyphos light sitting around. I'm waiting to see if a coworker wants it, but he's being pokey in his decision making process.

It's the Serpa lightbearing holster. It doesn't appear that I'll be using it, but as I got it for free and still have all the packaging, I'll see if I can trade it in at my LGS for something I can use.

Otherwise, I'll be posting it for sale in the classifieds. Too bad about it not fitting, as it's a very nice holster. But I'm not buying another $100 light just to use the holster.
