Just to save someone some headaches and possible injury.

My buddy and I shoot Blackhorn 209 muzzleloader powder and double checked guns several weeks ago. We both have powder left over from last year, but this week he picked up a new jug. He just called me stating he shot last years powder and it grouped well. He made up a charge of the new powder and fired and it was grouping 6'' high at 100yards. This tells me this years powder maybe a little hotter than last years due to shooting that high. If i was him i would have backed off a bit and started over, but he said everything is good.

Well, if I get some and it does that to me, I'll chronograph it against the old stuff. Hell, I've never chronographed the old stuff. LOL I don't have a 209 beech plug for my CVA, but bought a 209 primer adapter for my Hawken. Oddly, the Hawken now fires BH209 great, super reliable. The CVA not so much until I buy a breech plug for it. I like the way 777 shoots in it, but it'd be nice to shoot something clean. I like being able to sit down and shoot a five shot group and not have to brush the bore between shots. :D

Thanks for the heads up!
