I just picked up my new Marlin 1894 44 magnum along with some 44 mag cartridges and a box of Blazer 44 Specials. In reading the Marlin users manual however I noticed that they recommend against using Blazer ammo due to potential feeding problems. Has anyone out there confirmed this? Thanks.

I also have 44cal 1894 - tried blazers - biggest mistake of my life - i use them in my S&W 629 with no problems.

1894 tears the rim off:banghead:

Just out of curiosity...

How does that Marlin feed/shoot regular .44 Special ammo?

That's assuming the rims get torn off of the Blazer ammo because it's soft aluminum.

I'm looking for a .44 Special levergun, to go along with my S&W 696 and the oodles of Dillon-manufactured .44 Special ammo, hence my asking.

My Marlin 1894P .44 Mag. carbine feeds .44 Spl. 240 SWC reloads like corn through a goose.

I've never tried Blazer Aluminum in anything, because I reload everything I shoot.

Have a 1894 44 mag that has trouble with Speer's 200 gn GDHP in 44 mag or 44 special case. It feeds other bullets fine, 44 mag or special. Relieving the rear edge of chamber may help, but ain't tried it yet.

Just tried a Win trapper in 44 mag, that feeds a the Speer 200 GDHP just fine, in a 44 mag case. Haven't tried it with 44 special yet.

Just loaded up the Trapper with 44 specials loaded with the 200 GDHP, they cycled through well.

Believe Cimarron or one of the importers sells a dedicated 44 special carbine, have seen numerous pictures on different forums of it.

Just saw an ad for Hornady LeveRolution in 44 Mag - 225 gr!!!!

I cant wait to get my hands on that.
