Hey everyone,

I am one of the few IDPA guys that uses leather holsters and belts. Get made fun of half the time, the other times people want to know where I got such a nice rig. The rig I have is from Hays Holsters, which to my disappointment, isn't in business any longer. I found someone that makes exactly what I am looking for but he doesn't have the blue guns needed. I am looking for either a Sig SP2022 with rail or a CZ75B blue gun.

If you have one and would be willing to let me borrow it, please PM me and we can work it out.

I realize this may be an odd request, but what the heck. Worst thing that can happen is i don't get one, have to buy my own blue gun and get it made that way.

Mods, go ahead an move if I have in the wrong place.

Thanks.

Keith

$50x2=$100

Yes, Ican buy one for $50, but am going to get a holster for each. So hoping to borrow one, or both and have to buy no more than one.

Doesn't hurt to ask. If no response or help, then that is my problem.

Haven't asked

Havn't asked. Will check on that as well.

May just be best for me to buy them. I will then have them for multiple holster makes, and can always sell them later.

How much is he charging per holster? If you are buying one or both blye guns it would seem to me the holster guy would split the cost since he will probably get future business of the same firearms.

The maker should buy the dummy gun,,,

The maker should buy the dummy gun,,,
I make custom holsters and I would buy my own.

Mainly because I don't have the "cheek" to ask a customer to buy it for me.

I wouldn't buy a blue gun unless it was something I thought there was a good chance I'd need in the future. Fifty bucks for a blue gun negates any profit you might see for one holster.

If you really like the holster, wet forming 'em isn't difficult. Requires plastic wrap and a tap. No expensive toy guns required. Wet the holster to wet but not dripping, put the pistol in and let the thing dry.
You can eliminate the plastic wrap too if you want. Isn't really necessary.

Did you even read the OP? The maker needs a blue gun to make the holster. Just as I would need a blue gun to make a holster for a pistol I don't already own. No blue gun, no holster.

Letting a wet holster dry with a gun in it will result in a rusted gun. :scrutiny:

Those "expensive toy guns" are not toys. They are molded from actual firearms and are made for leathermakers (among others) to be used as fitting dummies.

Has anyone used Duncan Customs for dummy guns?

Duncan Customs.

I've been buying aluminum cast dummy guns from this place for years,,,
Their website never works correctly but they will e-mail you a list.

Last time I ordered (4 years ago) the guns were $40.00 each.

I figure if I make one holster,,,
Someone will want another one for their gun.

I've only been burned on this once,,,
But then again I charge enough to absorb the cost.

Well good for you. Every maker has to make that decision for his/herself, based on their own experience, the focus of their work and history.

Cheap airsoft guns are nearly identical to the real thing externally and can be purchased for under $20.

In a more perfect world there would be easy access to 3d printers and a person could 3d print a training gun made from an easily downloaded CZ75B model from online.
Total cost, $5.00
Maybe in 5 years it'll be that easy.
