OK that is just a flipping beauty.. What is the brass color band around the forearm made of? How is it attached..???

It looks like rawhide to me, and I'd imagine it's just stretched and shrunk in place.
Plus some brass tacks for good measure.

Yep, rawhide. Unknown to me but believe it was homemade.

It's a converted rifled-musket repro, alright. Original "blanket guns" were flinters, but this seems to be an ACW gun made into one.

The washers for the lock screws don't have the "Enfield Ears" that I'd expect, and the cut down ramrod with a cup shape... I'd say cut-own Remington 1863 "Zouave"....

Heck, I don't know what it is not do I really care as I think it's really just a "fun" gun and I like it. Thinking about shooting it today or tomorrow.

Wow I wouldn't be shooting steel BB's from that thing...that barrel will get torn-up. Besides you're not repelling rats!
Minnies from that rifled musket can weigh up to 566 grains, so if it's safe to shoot at all...... SHOOT 25 PELLETS of #4 BUCK out of that thing!

If you can shoot BB/steel shot out of a 12ga why not out of my Boomer. It's not like it's a target rifle.

Much softer steel than in a modern, breech loading firearm.
Same reason you can't shoot smokeless powder out of it either. LD

Steel shot will chew up your barrel. I loaded some 20ga loads with BBs and shot three of them and they left ding marks in the forcing cone of my shotgun. There is a reason why steel loads have extra thick shot cups and special choke tubes for steel shot. Spend the money and buy lead shot from BP Products and don't ruin your barrel.
