Veloce851,

I moved outta there about a year and a half ago; saloon was closed down; but cops still busy with radar :D

Generally have no problem with Big W, only buy ammo there, have never bought a gun from them....

havent they ever asked you,,,

something to the effect of, "are you going to do anything BAD with this ammo?"

i can't remember the exact wording but it seems ridiculous because what are you going to say?

"why, yes, i'm going down to the savings and loan after this to make a little withdrawal. "

want to join me??

of course, theyre just covering the posteriors because if you DO go do something bad with it,

they can then say, "well, we ASKED him if he was going to do something bad and he said no"

"so it aint OUR fault"

Last time I bought ammo from WM, the cashier was a nice little-old-lady. The handgun/age-21 question comes up on the register and SHE goes off into a rant punching the register buttons *hard*.

"HANDGUN? NO, IT'S FOR A KITE! IT'S NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS!"

Then, she put it in a bag, and in a granny-tone of voice, asked me where I was shooting today, told me to have fun, and told me to come back if I ran out of ammo.

I look for her whenever I go there to buy ammo now. hehe.

Hillman,

Now that's the kind of employee I'd love to see @ Wally-World.

I bought 400 rounds of .223 at a Wal-Mart about 7 years ago and the employee escorted me out of the store. Mostly it was because he just put it into one of those blue plastic baskets rather than a bag. He wanted to ensure no one hassled me at the door. He did have an interesting visual reaction when I told him how much ammo I wanted. His eyebrows kind of shot up about 6 inches and his eyes got as big as saucers. Not too many people buy that much ammo at once at the Sanford, Maine Wal-Mart. I told him "Don't worry, I don't work for the post office." His joking reply was "I'm just worried you work for Wal-Mart." We shared a bit of a laugh over that one. All in all, it wasn't a bad experience.

I understand that the reason they do the carry out the door thing no ammo when you buy the gun is because, they had an employees ex husband come in and buy a rifle and a box of ammo. The Ex then went and found the employee in another department and shot her dead, he then commited suicide in the store with the gun and ammo he just bought.

Thats why.
