bought a PSA AK47

I've been considering a PSA AK but from the little research I've done it sounds like they were having issues with the barrel trunions crapping out. Supposedly they fixed the issues but some people are claiming that their newer ones are having the same issues as the old ones.

Picked up mine today. Looks good.

I have one small problem though. I have a couple of Bugarian Circle-10 waffle magazines, and they will not latch in place. Has anyone else run into this problem? The Magpul mags work just fine.

Nevermind: The Bulgarian magazines just needed a little "persuadin" to make them work. I guess that they will loosen up more with use.

Now to find a decent day when I am not swamped to take it to the range.

I was looking at one just like it in a pawn shop, they had it price $200.00 more than you paid. That's why I was just looking at it.

If you ever decide to step up
this is the finest AK I have ever shot, and have owned about 14 different ones:

My current assemblage consists of an SLR107, and a Saiga 308, both of which I rank right up there as well.

Yeah and everyone wants way more than $1000 for one. Arsensal , Saiga . Unless you can prove to me that they shoot groups half the size of a PSA or WASR. And chances are none of us will ever have to carry it "into war" . The 10,000 round test that zealous AK owners seem to go gaga over, PSA is offering a lifetime warranty.

The only reason Saiga is fetching such prices is because they can't import anymore otherwise they would be priced around the same as a WASR or PSA.

Not saying I wouldn't mind have a Arsenal or Saiga but not at the prices they are fetching.

I have a Romanian SAR1 paid $300 for it back when they were coming out now they go for $600 to $700 has never let me down yet and isn't any less accurate than any other AK I have tried.

Nice rifle and good price. I would definitely get one if I didn't already have an example of the type.

I just purchased the same rifle from psa and took it out yesterday for the first time. Very nice shooting gun, decently tight groups at 100 yards with open sights and no hiccups. 2-3 moa with steel case surplus. I am happy with it.

2-3 moa I would say is pretty good for a AK. If I decide to get another one I will def consider a PSA, especially since my next one I'd like to put a optic on it.

Nothing wrong with an SAR1. My dad got his for 250
My best grouping AKs have been SLR95's and 16" Saiga 308's. In terms of pure semi auto utility, I feel the 16" Saiga 308 is the best AK in America.
I had a guy throw down the gauntlet one day when I was shooting my CUR-2. That particular 100 yd. group went into 2". However it seemed to me the original milled bulgarians were more repeatable in their group size. I paid $480 for mine in 1998.
I was at a range and a fellow had a brand new bushmaster cmp match rifle. I had my SLR95. He asked if we could switch for awhile. After 15 minutes he was glad to get his Bushmaster .

The 16" Saiga 308 is the most accurate AK I have tried. The SLR-95 generally offers more repeatable accuracy than most 7.62X39 AK's. My experience was groups closer to 2" than 3"@100yds, and that every day. with wolf ammo. this circa 2000.
In a 16" Saiga 308 you have a chromed bore, chrome piston, heavy barrel, reinforced receiver. And it is lighter than AR10 carbines, and slimmer too. I would have a hard time coughing up $1000 for a saiga 308 because I am used to buying them for less and converting. I would have no problem giving $1000 for an SLR 95 because their look, solid feel, and smooth operation is not replaceable once you have experience with one.

Sometimes I wonder what kind of accuracy I would see if I scoped my SAR1 , but I really do like shooting iron sight more than using optics for any gun I have. Although one day I do want to get another AK and dedicate it to some sort of optic sight which rifle I dunno yet, but the PSA based on price and review tops my choice right now. If Saiga was still coming over I'd choose that one first.
